Not long ago, I stopped by because I wanted a coffee and walked straight into Starbucks to place an order. The café was not particularly busy, and I recall only about five or six customers sitting inside. Two baristas were working at the espresso machine, likely handling a large number of mobile orders and making drinks nonstop. Another staff member appeared to be in charge of pastries and was working near the oven. The remaining employee was behind the counter, holding a broom and dustpan, cleaning.
I stood at the counter for almost five minutes, yet no one greeted me or acknowledged my presence, not even to ask me to wait for a moment. Everyone was focused solely on their own tasks. One of the baristas made eye contact with me but did not ask me to wait or call over another staff member. The employee handling pastries clearly saw me as well, but turned back to continue their work. The staff member who was cleaning swept up something and then walked into the back kitchen area, not returning for quite some time—despite clearly noticing that I had approached the counter.
After waiting for more than five minutes, I finally ordered a grande Pike and left.
From this experience alone, the way this store operates feels highly inefficient, and the attitude toward customers was extremely disappointing. The positive, team-oriented atmosphere I mentioned earlier was completely absent. I understand that each staff member has assigned responsibilities, and those tasks are important. However, I believe there needs to be better training that prioritizes acknowledging and assisting customers first.
I hope Starbucks can once again become a place where I leave feeling good, holding a cup of coffee I enjoy, rather than a café that leaves me feeling frustrated every time I visit.
Because of the delay, I had to cancel half of my order. Even after I clearly asked for the remaining item to be canceled, they still started preparing it. One employee, who had been standing near the register the whole time, not doing much, began making the item after we had already requested cancellation.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and poorly handled.
I just told him no worries I’ll take it as to avoid any confusion. I then take 4 sips of my drink and it was finished. The drink was crammed with ice. For 6.50 for a tall I was really upset. I would expect a better experience. Starbucks elsewhere is generally very accommodating.
The management should pay attention to all of the reviews! There are a lot of 1 star reviews below and seems like management ignores that and doesn’t change anything. Good job!
