Late night work on a Friday, heading back home and crave for a good chicken fried rice. Pickup, Smells good, 10 more mins to home, hungry, get back home, freshen up.. open the box and go… what the…? If you can’t make a good fried rice that costs 20$ then pls remove it from the menu and just do pho. But have the courtesy to give your customers what they want for the price they pay. Sadly also got an upset stomach after. So, you took a shortcut using chicken from something else. I love a good fried rice and I can say when something is BS. Pls, no more shortcuts. Take it out or get rid of your chef or do it properly no matter how many times you make it. You owe it your customers.

Food and service were both okay, the broth for the beef noodles tasted sour ???? The satay one was better. The servings come with a lot of meat compared to the noodles which was good. The pork banh mi we got was yummy!

I go here quite often and it’s always really good! Very consistent! I order Uber eats from here more often and that’s always consistently good too!

Love love love their Earl Grey Milk Tea (no pearls) super refreshing without being sweet or bitter.

If you are a Vancouverite you know what to expect when going to Pho 99. It is a decent place for a bowl of pho and has been around for decades. It has been years since I visited the Surrey Guildford location but since we were in the area why not. Did the food hit yes. Service lacking. Service is the downfall of this location and my reminder why I stopped going to this location.

As an asian at a quick pho joint I don’t expect much. However as a bare minimum….. serving utensils (chop sticks) is a must. Upon the waiter putting the food down on the table all of the people I was with began to enjoy their meal. I politely asked for chopsticks and that is where things went downhill.

Instead of just providing chopsticks the waiter served attitude. And not any side eye attitude but nuclear level attitude (i.e. what’s wrong with the chopsticks you were given?). Here is the problem I had none (zero utensils were provided). How else am I supposed to enjoy the pho ordered. Perhaps the waiter expected me to eat the food like a dog and immerse my head in the bowl.

When I pointed out the lack of utensils the waiter scoffed and came back later….very much later with the chopsticks (when the party I was with was almost half done their food). Another party at my table asked the waiter for napkins, why? There were none provided. Another party asked for chili sauce a basic staple condiment for pho. None provided. Even the neighboring table asked for chili and napkins. None provided. Too add insult I watched the waiter go to front kitchen/cashier area organizing napkins and condiment and ignoring eye contact for folks asking for said items. Instead of organizing and gate keeping chopsticks, napkins and condiments perhaps distribute them?

It’s a shame for this location. I will continue going to Pho99 just not this location. Even if food is good if the service is lacking….it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Food – 10

I visited Pho 99 in the evening mainly because it’s conveniently close to Shoppersmart. The place seemed quite busy, even after 8 PM, with plenty of diners still enjoying their meals. I ordered their classic pho, a traditional spring roll, a hot Vietnamese French coffee, and a mungo smoothie.

The pho was pretty standard—not bad, but nothing exceptional that stood out. The spring rolls were fresh and seemed homemade, with generous fillings, but again, the flavor was just average. The hot French coffee was decent, but there wasn’t anything memorable about it either.

As for the pricing, with inflation and rising costs, it came to about $25 per person, which is reasonable given the current market. Would I go back? Maybe, but it’s not necessarily a place I’d make a special effort to revisit. It’s a decent spot if you’re in the area and craving Vietnamese food, but nothing groundbreaking.

One of the few best pho restaurants we have ever been to, great tasty foods with decent prices & great customer service from the owner lady! Ordered grilled pork chops & prawn, they gave me one extra slice at no charge. We will be visiting again more often soon!

Ordered beef ball and brisket bowl and as an avid pho lover this is actually the worst bowl of pho I’ve ever had. The broth which is usually the best and my favourite part is awful, I don’t even know how you can call it pho when all it tastes like is beef water. Extremely disappointing.
