I see these one star reviews and cannot understand…I eat at Chen’s almost weekly and have ALWAYS enjoyed the portions I receive, and flavor of the food. The staff are very friendly and work very hard. I have totally no complaints!!

It was super busy but seem short staff. I wasn’t impressed by the skimpy portions of vomit it changed it from arm to vomit (almond)chicken I got and I had to repeat my order. expensive but gross. Also they don’t have Wi-Fi.. that’s available for guest, but it’s a buffet in 2025.

Great little place for dine in buffet & take away.
Very friendly service. We went when they were getting ready to close down the buffet. But the food was great. It’s a small buffet, they focus on popular foods. We will go back and give it another go.

You can NOT add or change anything on your order. I was willing to pay extra to have pork fried rice with my meal and wanted a spring roll instead of an egg roll. The sweet and sour chicken was very crispy and had broken pieces almost like someone had cut or bite them.

This was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time in Shelby!!! Great service and price too! Vegan! I loved the tofu with mixed vegetables, sub rice for cabbage and added mushrooms, so good!!!

Was good till I found a bug in my pork fried rice three bites in Looked like an over sized mosquito. Needless to say I threw away an $11 dollar plate of food. Won’t be back and probably won’t eat rice for years because the bug look JUST like the fried rice. Not cool!!

I was so excited to eat Chen’s tonight…then I was disappointed. I get home and open my food, put it in a plate and shook my head. I received a lot of vegetables with my little bit of rice (the rice box wasn’t full), very little beef and shrimp. I’ve been getting Chen’s for years and the past few times I’ve gotten it…the portions have gone way down and the prices have gone way up! So disappointed!

Food is amazing. I drive over an hour to eat here just because I love the unique flavors they offer. No other Chinese restaurant tastes the same. The small sized buffet seems to be a plus because the food is always hot and fresh. Now the bad side. The service is horrible. Years ago the service and food were great. Right now they basically treat you like they don’t care if you come eat there are not. It sucks because it wouldn’t take much effort at all for them to be nice and take care of their customers. Literally everything is great except for the attitude of the people running the place.
