My favorite is spicy beef with rice noodles and beef dumplings! Kids love colorful dumplings and authentic desert. Space is wide open and full of light! Service was pleasant and super quick! Highly recommend
We started with the scallion pancakes, perfectly crisp on the outside and soft, savory, and not greasy on the inside. Then came the dumplings: the shrimp and pork soup dumplings. The wrappers were delicate yet sturdy, and the filling juicy.
For mains, we tried the pork chop over rice with fried egg and minced pork. The pork chop was tender and somewhat sweet. Different from other pork chop dishes I’ve tried before. The seasoned minced pork and egg tied it all together. The flounder with sour pickled cabbage rice noodle soup was light on the tanginess. I wish the flavor was stronger and more impactful, but it was more on the light and hearty side. The Sichuan beef noodle soup is a must if you like heat – spicy, aromatic, and loaded with tender beef and soft noodles.
We also ordered three desserts: the mango pomelo sago was refreshing and fragrant, my favorite. The black sticky rice with coconut milk and mango was good, however I wish there were more mango slices. The ice jelly with brown sugar was a favorite with my in-laws. Light, cool, and the perfect finish after the spicy dishes. A little pricey for each dessert though ($8).
Every dish had bold, balanced flavors and felt thoughtfully prepared. Between the amazing food, quick service, modern ambiance, this spot truly stands out. Can’t wait to come back and try other dishes!
Don’t come expecting standard American Chinese restaurant fare.
Also, familiarize yourself with the look of the numbing peppercorn so you don’t accidentally bite down on one and stun yourself with the full mouth numbing experience as one of my companions inadvertently did.
We fell in love with the one in Northern Virginia, so excited that this has opened in Columbia!
Delicious and authentic soup dumplings, dim sum, and noodle dishes, in a low-key affordable package. As good if not better than Peter Chang, especially for the price.
You can’t go wrong with any of the dumplings, but our absolute favorite is the Yibin spicy dry noodles with minced pork. It’s the perfect amount of heat and savory umami. Also love the moist and savory peppercorn and spicy chicken app as well as the pork chop side, which is seasoned and flavored to perfection.
And I always need some sesame balls with red bean paste for dessert.
