We decided to start off with their pulled pork bbq nachos. When the nachos came, we were blown away at how generous of a portion they were. The nachos were loaded with pulled pork as well as tomatoes and onions. Too many times we’ve had nachos where the toppings were skimpy. Not here! My only criticism is that in addition to charging you extra for guacamole or jalapenos if you want them, they do charge $1.95 if you want sour cream. Sorry, but I think that sour cream should be part of the deal. It is anywhere else that we’ve gone. They did give us a generous portion of the sour cream, but still….
The nachos were delicious – probably the best we’ve had. There were so many that we couldn’t finish and wrapped the rest to go. We should’ve stopped there – but we didn’t.
I was in the mood for a burger and so was my husband. A lot of choices. I finally decided on their New England burger. Burger, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion served on a brioche roll. My husband ordered the double, double. Two all beef patties, caramelized onions, cheese. secret sauce with lettuce and tomato also served on a brioche roll. He decided to swap the fries for the onion rings (for an additional charge) so that we could try them. Everything was perfect! The burgers were both cooked to perfection (medium rare), the onion rings and fries were crisp and tasty.
The bluegrass music that they played was pleasant. It could be heard but not so loud that you couldn’t hold a conversation with each other.
The whole experience was very enjoyable. We look forward to going back and trying out some of their other items.
When we arrived at the restraunt there was a black truck with a dog inside. The weather at this point in the year is 21°F and for a dog in a car that is dangerous. We brought this up with the hostess and she brushed it off saying “well it is a dog” which is not an excuse. The manager on duty Charlie told us that this is a regular. They told us they would find the person and let them know.
When we left the restaurant the dog was still in the car, we were in the restraunt for over an hour. At this point we walked back inside and tried to talk to the manager but he walked past us to stand at the bar and ignore us. We let the hostess know again and she dismissed us yet again saying how it’s a dog and how it’s a regular which is no excuse at all.
At this point we were very concerned for the dogs safety so we told them we would leave and call the police. They began to scramble to actually find the person. That person was in the restraunt bar catching up with a friend.
Absolutely disgusting behavior from this staff regarding the safety of an animal because the owner of the dog is a regular.
1) The New England Burger: ME family farm beef, VT cheddar, NH cured bacon, MA baked brioche bun, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.
2) Surf & Turf: BBQ Steak Tips paired with your choice of haddock (baked or fried) or Cajun seared shrimp (I chose fried haddock) and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
The portions were just right and there was enough to take home to eat later on for dinner. I look forward to visiting this place again.
