Ordered regular cod & chips. When we got it back we thought they’d given us small by mistake but it looked lovely.
However the grease coming from the food was so off putting by the end of the meal both cardboard boxes were coming apart as the grease was dripping through.
The batter wasn’t crispy. It may’ve started off crispy but was just soggy & falling off the fish. I’m so grateful I bought the food home to eat as the grease would’ve been everywhere had we eaten them sat out somewhere. The box was so soaked & falling apart it would’ve been impossible to eat them out.
Such a shame as they definitely weren’t cheap, but on this experience, we won’t be returning.
I’m aware fish & chips are deep-fried, but these were definitely one of the most greasy fish we’d ever eaten.

There’s a reason this place won the award for best fish and chips in all of Britain in 2024. The batter is so incredibly light and so crisp, and doesn’t interfere with the flavor of the fish. On top of the award winning cod, they also have specials which my wife tried and swore by.

The chips are also delightfully crispy and not soggy like so many other places, and the mushy peas taste fresh – I am no expert but I could almost see the fork marks from the “mushing” – these are made in the moment, not out of a can!

A tiny little spot just off the main square in Glastonbury, so unassuming yet so significant – think of how many places serve fish and chips in the UK and here, in Glastonbury, we have the deserved winner! Best fish and chips this reviewer has ever had. Hands down.

Excellent fish and chips, in fact I would say the best I’ve had for many a year!
Perfect crunchy batter, succulent fish and superb chips.
The best thing of all though, is if you are coeliac they do the best gluten free fish and chips.
At last, somewhere that understands that you can’t cook even the chips in contaminated oil!
Now my husband and I can have fish and chips together

Booked a table today for 4 of us for Fish and Chips as heard so many positive reviews. Easy booking and seated near the log burner which was a blessing on a cold January lunchtime. We all had fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. All food freshly cooked and was exquisite. Not too greasy and excellent value for money.

Lives up to it’s award winning status. The fish and chips are up there with the best I’ve had in the country.

The customer service is excellent and the cooks obviously take pride in their product, as is evident by the quality. Please be prepared to wait at busy times as you can’t prepare food of this standard in 10 minutes.

The drinks are reasonably priced and the courtyard is a wonderful place to eat in warmer times.

It was a pleasure to eat in an establishment that put customer service and quality of food above simply making a profit.

Lush place to fuel up after a tor stomp. Really friendly staff and amazing portion sizes! Loved the different things you could get on the ‘lux’ chips. The fish was delicious. And gluten free fish and chips!!! The actual Holy Grail of food.

We walked in at lunch time without a reservation, they were busy but they found us a table. Natalia was very attentive and informed us about the specials as well as answered our questions about the different flavour and texture each fish type had. She recommended we try the hake based on our description of fish flavours and textures we enjoy, and I’m so glad we listened as the hake was so much nicer than cod (even though their cod is really nice too). The batter was crispy and light and the texture of the hake was flaky but not mushy, which was perfect for our taste! Their tartare sauce was pretty nice too, though the one I make at home is nicer still… Overall I do recommend this for fish and chips if in Glastonbury.

This is what fish and chips should be! Large pieces of fresh quality fish fried perfectly to a wonderful crispiness. Went well with the accompanying mountain of chips. Service was friendly and efficient even though it was a busy, busy night. A must-try in Glastonbury.

This gem was founded way back in 1890 & has recently won National Chippy awards so we were very keen to try it.
We were too late to eat in their restaurant (that shuts at 8.30pm) so we had a take-away.
They offer a catch of the day & had hake when we visited. We got hake, chips & mushy peas plus battered cod with garlic & oregano fries with aioli. We also had to try their curry sauce.
Service was efficient & friendly.
Meal deals, Pukka pies & other seafood including scampi are also offered.
