First time at ibby’s which is located in the Danforth University Center, or as students call it the DUC.
Visitor parking is close by in the garage. Other parking is permit only.
Ibby’s offers an upgraded food and dining experience for Washington University faculty, staff and students. A hostess seated us and was pleasant.
The dining room was almost empty on a Thursday around noon while school was in session. Our very friendly waiter arrived quickly as we reviewed menus we requested waters.
The decor is bright and the kitchen is partially exposed. The seating is table and chairs. There is one group table for like 6-8 in the back. The noise level was low.
I ordered the beet salad and added grilled chicken. My wife the turkey club and substituted potatoes for a salad. Both were recommended by the waiter.
Orders pushed out in around 20 minutes. My salad was good, not great. Everything seemed fresh. My wife liked her sandwich, however the bacon was tough. We did receive a table check and waters refilled.
We declined deserts although they sounded good. The bill was a bit steep for a salad and sandwich with two waters. I probably would not return.

Now I understand why this place can’t even get an average four-star review. Somehow my friends wanted to try out this pricey place in a somehow affordable canteen. If the food was good, then fine the price would be acceptable. However, clearly the food was overpriced. And the worst thing of all was that they collected a 18% unconditional tips. No wonder the server could chill and took 15+ minutes to return our checks.

All the waitstaff, even the hosts and dishwashers, do a great job under pressure, in odd weather conditions where they led us to evacuate, suggesting menu orders, and keeping the place clean, harmonious, and hospitable. The chefs could do a lot better in pricing the menu, adding seasoning and larger portions, as well as not removing the popular dishes from the menu. The interior design is also eerie because the huge butterfly graphics do not suit the vibe but again the service here is unmatched.

Visited this restaurant for the first time with another alum. It seems a bit pricey for a student dining establishment, but perhaps reasonable for a date or dinner with your parents.
Have to give a shout out to Jessica, the manager, who was very accommodating to my friend with a dietary restriction.

I generally have low standards for foods, so it’s pretty rare that I feel this disappointed by a dish. My friend and I both ordered the quiche entrees and struggled to eat it as the texture and (lack of flavor) became nauseating at some point. They were basically just very watery, steamed eggs with no crust (?? so not a quiche). The picture of the dish says it all. I would’ve preferred eating just straight-up raw tofu over this.

this is my favorite place to eat on campus. the food is not bad but it used to be sooooo much better. only reason I keep coming back is for the desserts and the servers (especially April).

The quality of the food is fine for the price but nothing amazing. The service is at most two stars. Very rude people (with a couple of exceptions) especially towards international people

Worst steak ever. Costs 26 dollars when it came, it was 50% fat and grissle. It was severely undercooked ( I ordered medium). Food is overly salted, and anything fried is often not crispy when it comes out. It has fancy feel to it, but the food is overpriced and sub-par. Don’t go expecting a lot.
