I feel sad writing this edit, as I have throroughly enjoyed my food before today. I was serve raw and cold chicken today. When I confronted one of the owners, the Sushi Chef, he tried to tell me it’s impossible for the food to be both hot and cold.
He also loves to yell at his wait staff as well. There are three tables and door dash calling and there is only 1 person ever on staff doing both. The waitress we had was extremely patient and kind to us. She was being over worked and abused at this establishment.
I would also like to note that the Sushi chef never washes his hands, even between making sushi and interacting with customers. He’s brought me a box before with fish all over his hands and I had to handle it with napkins and was my own. I should have seen the red flags before, but usually his (I assume) wife is there to keep him in check. She was not in the front while we were served today.
I really enjoyed this place, but I have no idea if I’m going to get sick with the chicken I ate.
I gave a detailed recounting of my knowledge on cooking and reheating food. Unless my warning is headed, this place will unfortunately not last much longer.
Hire more staff.

And don’t abuse your staff!
January review:
When we walked in, it was quiet and comfortable. We seated where we liked and ordered our drinks right away.
The sushi is phenomenol! It’s prepared by a master sushi chef himself. It’s the BEST maki sushi roll I’ve ever had since moving here.
The vegatable potsticker appetizer exploded in my mouth. We demolished them so fast, I didn’t get to take a picture.
The tofu soup we had felt like home in my mouth. I cried drinking the broth and eating the perfectly textured veggies and tofu.
The Udon was amazing as well! The chicken melted in my mouth, the bamboo shoots were perfect (I don’t usually like them, but they were really good!), and the noodles were really good. I enjoyed the entire dish.
I feel like “Ego”, from Ratitoulle, writing this. The food here feels like home. Sipping my tea made me feel at peace after a stressful time, lately. And the food is really cheap and the portions are fantastic, considering the price.
I am going to come here again and again for as long as I live in Peoria.
I will not be returning.
Sushi Ko has the best sushi in Peoria, period. The chef trained for 15 years in Japan and loves what he makes.
Of course it tastes like Japan. BTW, order the House roll. Its as big as a house!
