I stopped because it’s a Sunday and most fish markets are closed.
My excitement was quickly turned to disappointment.
I walk in and see the new price list that includes a price for raw fish and a separate list for COOKED fish!!!
The price for a pound of filet of sole RAW is $14.99…the price COOKED is $15.50.
***BUT THEY DON’T WEIGH THE FISH!!!***
The norm is to weigh the fish in front of the customer and charge accordingly!
This is a FISH MARKET SCAM!
How are you charging per pound but you’re not weighing the fish?!
By the way, the medium shrimp is $12.99/lb….but its $28.50 cooked!!!
***My fish was overcooked!!!***
It was fish chips. Too crispy! Filet of sole is too thin to be over fried!
***The hot sauce is watered down. The tarter sauce is also watered down.
Save your money
I love that they give you many options on how you’d like fish fried and also your taste – salty, low salt or regular.
The potato salad is homemade and the dinner roll was divine! Usually most fish places give cheap dried out rolls which I immediately toss or decline altogether.
They also have desserts – I dare not even open that fridge! Banana pudding, chocolate cake, sweet potato pie and what looked like cheesecake.
They have a watermelon drink and I believe some kind of ice-coffee.
Lort have mercy!
The fish was particularly dreadful; it tasted like it had been cooked in old batter and grease and lacked any seasoning. The smell was off-putting, and it made for an unpleasant dining experience. To add insult to injury, my sister fell ill shortly after eating the meal and was sick well into the morning.
We are not sure if quality control has declined or if Kim’s is under new management, but this kind of experience is simply not tolerable, especially given our long history with this establishment. We have patronized Kim’s since childhood, from what I can recall visiting at least three different locations along Avalon blvd. So to have such a disappointing experience is incredibly frustrating. Action needs to be taken to address these issues!
Thank you in advance for your attention to the matter.
