In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

The meal portions are very large, a very wonderful bang for your buck and SUPER tasty. We enjoyed this restaurant so much we spoke to the manager Damian about how we deeply appreciated our experience and how he is hiring wonderful staff and they make delicious food. If you are ever in the St. George area I highly recommend you go check out Black Bear Diner. It is incredibly worth it, and if you don’t leave with leftovers I would be VERY impressed lol.
Thank you for making our Valentine’s Day dinner on our honeymoon so memorable Black Bear Diner St. George.
Also, Dorothy, our server, was friendly, kind, helpful, and fast! She gave us excellent recommendations and made the experience even better
The waitresses were the absolute sweetest.
We ordered a variety of things. I got a birthday breakfast. I had the pancakes with chocolate chips, ham, and scrambled eggs. The eggs were great. The pancakes were ok. They were overly sweet for me. The ham was overcooked and really hard to chew.
We got a taco salad. It was amazing. The tortilla shell was yummy. It was a fun combo of lettuce, olives, refried beans, ground beef and the ranch was amazing.
Someone got a pancake with an egg it was good.
My favorite was the bread pudding French toast. Amazing. It had great texture. Yummy cinnamon and it was just incredible.
The Food: We ordered the Tri-Tip and the Prime Rib. Both were cooked perfectly and served in those generous portions Black Bear is famous for. If you’re looking for a solid comfort meal to kick off the weekend, you can’t go wrong here.
The Service: A huge thank you to Angell, our waitress. She was truly exceptional! Despite it being a busy Friday night, she was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without us ever having to ask. It’s rare to find service that feels both professional and genuinely warm.
Overall: Great food, cozy atmosphere, and top-tier service from Angell. We’ll definitely be back!
