Amazing! There aren’t enough words to express how amazing Julie and Todd are and their food. Best flavor, best customer service, and best prices for what you get around, and boy do you get enough to fill up! We will for sure be back!

Super friendly and fantastic food. Eating from here was a great idea! It was filling and delicious for the price. I would say that is better BBQ food than some of the places in Des Moines and Chicago. My wife and I each got a 2 meat platter, which came with a side and a piece of Texas toast.

A Fantastic Discovery at Fire Box on Main!
We recently stumbled upon Fire Box on Main, and it was an incredible find! This local gem checks all the boxes for a memorable dining experience.
Friendly and Personal Service
The restaurant is owner-operated, which is always a plus in supporting local businesses. Todd, the owner, personally greeted us, making us feel right at home, and Julie took our order with warmth and efficiency. It’s clear that customer care is a priority here.
Impeccable Cleanliness
The restaurant was spotless, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for dining.
Rib Day – A Must Try!
It happened to be rib day, and let me tell you – they did not disappoint. The ribs were tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. A true highlight of the meal!
Brisket with a Perfect Smoke Ring
We also tried the brisket, which had an amazing smoke ring and was juicy, tender, and full of flavor.
Variety of Sauces
They offer four different sauces, and each one was absolutely delicious. Whether you like it tangy, spicy, or sweet, there’s a sauce that will suit your taste.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Fire Box on Main delivered an outstanding meal, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. If you’re in the area, be sure to check them out – it’s a local treasure!

We got the lunch sandwiches, a brisket and a pulled pork. Then apple crisp for dessert. The food was excellent, all of it! Prices were reasonable and the owners are exactly what you expect to see in Iowa Nice. They were very friendly, accommodating, and proud of their business (with reason). We’ll make the trip back this way!

Food was really dry !!! . And had no flavor !? . Pig wings had a hint of smok no seasoning and for about 4 oz meat or so for 6 to 8 dollars a peace . And for having to use a lot of barbecue sauce to choke it down . Pulled pork seemed like it was Frozen store bought . Had no flavor ( yes they had different barbecue sauces definitely not anything homemade . For the taste that’s the food / Service was friendly but until I was going to pay they were like hoverboard like watching me count the money to put in the book . Like I just started getting my wallet out to pay . I didn’t want to pay right then and there I was going to just sit there . And Joy our water that was in a water bottle ? Just was feeling Forest to get out ??? . And for building experience was nice small outside and kind of a train looks inside was not bad looking. It seemed clean did not use the restroom so I can’t give you a full review . feel like we were getting forced out like we had to pay could not sit there so over all from 0 out of 10 I would give the food one star ⭐ service I want to give it a one but I’ll give it two ⭐⭐ because it seemed friendly but maybe it was just a bad day there . just really weird . But on the building I’ll give it to 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The pig wing may have been the best piece of pork I’ve ever had. Sliced brisket is amazing. So far I’ve had the (sliced & chopped) brisket, pig wings, pulled pork, beans, potato salad and bread. It’s all good. Atmosphere is clean but not the Ritz. But when you cook BBQ like this place you don’t need anything fancy. The meat speaks for itself. We ate there twice in 2 days! Truth! Yum!

Swung by this little town and wanted something local. Owners Julie and Todd are wonderful. It’s right in the heart of downtown Belle Plaine, Iowa. The atmosphere is train related which is pretty cool. Very clean restaurant and restroom. The menu is very straightforward and the prices are very affordable. It’s a really great place. But the best part is their food. Had the 3 Meat sliders with smoked sausage, pulled pork, and brisket. WOW!!! Top 3 brisket on my list. Championship quality meat, flavor, and tenderness. However, the smoked sausage was even better. I’ve had smoked sausage in all parts of this country and I don’t think I’ve ever had better. Nearly brought a tear to my eyes because it’s exactly how smoke sausage should be served. The pulled pork was tender and juicy and finished off the meal perfectly. I would highly recommend everyone in the area or anyone passing by to stop in and support this amazing locally owned restaurant. I would also recommend going to competitions with this food. Belle Plaine I hope you know what you have here in this place. Oh yeah the honey BBQ and Chipotle BBQ sauces were top notch!
