My tilapia was burnt, a small portion of fries, and the shrimp tasted like dirt. My first time coming here and it will be the last. Looks like the fish was fried in old grease. The food was definitely not seasoned. The owner offered five extra shrimp and said they don’t do refunds. Making the meal over would’ve been nice. That’s the least you can do. The food was definitely not worth 17 dollars plus I tipped them. It shouldn’t matter if it’s snowing and you have less customers, you should issue quality food. I went down the street and got something else.

My wife and I wanted to try Hutto’s for lunch this past very rainy Saturday after reading some online posts about good experiences there. We both ended up ordering the seafood platter with 10 shrimp and a piece of fish. My wife had flounder and I had the red snapper. Both of which add a few dollars for the upcharge (+3 flounder/+6 red snapper) which we didn’t notice until it was time to pay. However those upcharges are clearly marked on their menu board behind the counter. We both ordered a drink and wanted unsweetened tea. However both the sweet and unsweet tanks were empty. We asked about it and said they were going to make tea. They started cleaning out the tanks but the tea wasn’t available by the time we left. The food was okay but nothing special. The shrimp were medium sized and still had the tails and the little feet on them. I don’t mind the tails which most restaurants do but the feet need to come off if you are frying them. Nothing better than any calabash style buffet at MYR Beach. The fried okra my wife ordered was good. It had a nice light coating and was cooked perfectly. I had the french fries. Ordinary crinkle fries and they were fine. I ordered the red snapper as my fish and it looked great with cross cut marks to help the batter and frying work better. It however was dry and a bit stiff indicating it was overcooked. Tasted okay but wouldn’t pay $6 extra for that. With a “click one of these” 18% tip for stand up ordering our total was +$52 which was a bit shocking. The place was very clean including the restroom and there are enough tables to dine in. Some other folks dining at the same time had some chicken wings which looked very good and they seem to be enjoying them. Candidly, I’m not sure we will be back as for the money there are several much better options.

This was the best steamed seafood I have ever had. Simply delish! It is great to be able to eat gluten free and it be amazing. Loved the covered picnic tables and fans with music playing.

The food was prepared quickly but unfortunately it was grossly underwhelming. No flavor at all on the fried combo although the flounder wasn’t too bad; very light and edible. Not a speck of salt on the fries and the shrimp wasn’t battered, just fried naked. Oh the tarter sauce helped boost the fried combo flavor.

The steamed combo had decent superficial flavor. The half & half drinks were large cups mostly of ice but tasty.

I ordered 4catfish 3whiting 4hushpuppies instead I was given 4 cold dry unseasoned flounder and whiting was mostly fried skin no meat unseasoned and cold no taste terrible experience couldn’t eat it that bad.

My steamed platter was the best food decision I have made all year!!!! So very delicious! My steamed shrimp was a bit over cooked, but everything else was perfect! Fresh! Steamed scallops and snapper were amazing! Great flavors without overpowering the natural flavors of the seafood! Can’t wait to go back for more. First meal while visiting my college student. She and my hubby both loved their fried shrimp and catfish meals. Even their tarter sauce was so so good. Congrats to Hutto for doing things right!
