My family lives in Texas, and every time they come to town, Talus is the one restaurant they insist on going to—it’s that good. The owner is an amazing person, and you can feel the care and passion that goes into every detail, from the service to the menu.
One of the coolest things about Talus is that the menu changes quarterly, so every visit feels like a brand-new experience while still maintaining the incredible quality we’ve come to expect. We’ve never had a bad meal here, and we always leave excited to come back.
If you’re looking for exceptional food, creative cocktails, and a place that consistently delivers an unforgettable experience, Talus is it.
Update January 2025: I tried their Vesuvius Flatbread which is an odd but addictive combination of sweet, savory and a little spicy. The soup – a Cajun Chicken almost bisque and the side Caesar Salad were both delicious. The Hazelnut Salmon was accompanied by the perfect sides. The Talus Burger was excellent as well. The Bread Pudding dessert was only warm on the outside and cold in the middle which was the only miss of the night. Overall, I still definitely recommend this restaurant.
Update March 2025:
Their Happy Hour Croquettes appetizer was great alone and over the top with the sauce. The Crispy Fish Sandwich was massive (and delicious) and the Great Smoky Burger makes a scrumptious mess to rival a Reuben. Jack was an excellent server too!
We arrived 20 mins before our reservation and were able to get a table out on their patio. If the weather supports it, I’d highly suggest the patio, as the view is beautiful and they have heaters for the chilly days/nights.
The group ordered the Cranberry Mules and Smoked Old Fashion. Both were very flavorful and a second round was ordered shortly after.
We started with their Crispy Brussels Sprouts (forgot to get a picture). They were nice and crispy and the cheese and balsamic vinegar gave them a nice added flavor. Plenty for the four of us to start the meal.
For the main course, my wife and my friend’s wife ordered the Mt. Fuji Mushroom Risotto. It was very flavorful and the Fried Pork Belly add a great touch. My friend ordered the Seafood Risotto, it was just as flavorful and had plenty of seafood in it. My favorite between the two was the Mt Fuji Mushroom Risotto and I would highly recommend this for any first time visitors.
I ordered the Talus Meatloaf, and it was probably the best meatloaf I’ve ever had. It was super moist, yet had a nice crispy edge to it. The chipotle demi sauce added a great flavor profile to the meal as well.
For desert, we ordered the Old Fashion Bread Pudding, it was amazing as well and there was plenty for all 4 of us to satisfy our sweet tooth.
Overall, I’d give Talus a 10/10, would highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be back again very soon.
And finally, this isn’t your mother’s meatloaf! Has a slight kick to it, green beans and mashed potatoes were also delicious. We will definitely go here again for a date night to try out some of their crab dishes and dessert. Highly recommend!
