I have only had bad experiences with Tropical Smoothie.
Every time I come, they don’t blend the smoothie all the way. So, it’s always chunky and I can’t use a straw. I end up blending it again when I get home which is really inconvenient. The food is mediocre at best. And, the customer service is terrible.

I ordered an açaí bowl, and the base was clearly prepped several days ago , it was completely frozen solid and not enjoyable at all. For $12, I expected something fresh like other Tropical Smoothie locations that prep daily. The nerve of having a tip jar and card tip option when they don’t even make the base fresh is wild. Total waste of money. I will not be returning to this location.

I went to this location on Saturday 11/25 and waited in front of the register waiting for someone to take my order. They completely ignored me and was just preparing other orders. After around 7 minutes or just waiting to order I just left. I refuse to patronize establishments with poor customer service. It does not take much to acknowledge your customers. I will not be returning to this location.

For some reason, this location is always skimp on portions and ingredients compared to others. The smoothies taste just a bit watered down as well. I ordered a Chicken Cali Flatbread breakfast sandwich and didn’t receive even a slice worth of mashed avocado or a spoonful of diced chicken breast. When I called back to ask why the portions were so light, the gentleman who answered the phone was more set on arguing with me than resolving the issue. I attached a photo of what my flatbread looked like open-faced. I love Tropical Smoothie Cafe, just not this one. Drive a little further for a better experience.

We ordered 4 smoothies for delivery, 3 out of the 4 were only filled 3/4 of the way and melted. I took a picture of mine just to have as evidence. I called and the gentleman that answered said to call back in 2 hours because he couldn’t get ahold of his manager. I called 2 hours later, and they told me to bring back the smoothies myself and they would remake them. The reason why we paid extra for a tip and to have it delivered was because it was inconvenient for us to leave work to pick them up. Also, 2 hours later, we no longer have the drinks, they are in the trash. I told the gentleman that’s something he should have recommended 2 hours ago. he said he tried to call my work line, but never left a voicemail so I didn’t know. As much as we order from here and the Burtonsville location all I asked was for a store credit for the 3 smoothies and didn’t even get that. I see now why they have bad reviews.

They were super quick & sweet! I hate to say it but most tropical smoothie employees are kinda jerks. This is the first tropical smoothie I’ve been to & the employees were really really nice! And the smoothies were amazing!

I have a “go to” smoothie and sandwich combo that I enjoy from Tropical Smoothie. Whenever I take my daughters to the dentist’s office nearby. However, on my last two visits I have had some uncomfortable experiences at this location. I have accrued a lot of points because of being a frequent customer. I went into the location with my daughters after ordering their lunches online. I decided to use my points to order my sandwich. When I did, the app told me that I already redeemed my points. I said to myself, “that’s okay, I’ll just go to the friendly people at the register and they will correct it. Unfortunately, the lady at the register was shockingly unhelpful. She told me that this happens to a lot of customers and all I simply have to do is wait another 24 hours. I asked to speak to the manager and she refused to call for them. I believe in giving companies a fair chance to show good customer service. I gave them several opportunities and even spoke directly to the lady to say that I wished the customer service was better. I mentioned understanding how franchise systems work and how, being in good service, I also had to solve similar problems…and go above and beyond. I am still hungry but, on principle, I can’t give my money to a business that does not respect me as a customer, but is only transactional. I will not be purchasing from this location again until they improve their service. The Rockville location has great service. I gave this Tech Road location another chance our last visit when my daughter found a long piece of hair in her sandwich, but this was the last straw!
