So, on a positive note, we didn’t get sick after eating a jalapeño and rainbow roll. I do acknowledge that the sake probably helped.
But that’s where the positive ends.
This place is in need of a good week-long closure and deep clean. And while you’re at it, fire the lazy staff and get some fresh new help. Staff texting and watching videos, filth at the sushi bar, more filth in the bathroom. Light bulbs burnt out. It all adds up to something gone seriously wrong.
The food is manageable (add more Sake just to be sure). I’ll let the photos tell you the rest of the story.
With Leland growing fast, this place will not survive long. We need a decent sushi bar and this is NOT that place.
I haven’t been in awhile. Normally, I order and get takeout. But yesterday I decided to dine in. …. It was the Worse experience I have ever had at this location. I’m not sure if they have new Ownership or new chefs, but the food was terrible. First, I was not greeted at the door. A older Lady finally came after five minutes, dressed as if she had been laying on her sofa with her pet cat all day. (No Uniform) just a I was looking sweater T-shirt and pants. That really annoyed me, but I dismissed it. Soup and salad no longer comes with the meal. You have to pay separately. The food no longer taste are authentic. It was more like an express and Whoever was in the back as the shelf apparently does not know how to cut sashimi. Fish was cut really thick. Presentation was garbage. Don’t think I’ll be going back
There’s a sushi bar in the dining room, and from where I was seated it was clear the kitchen wasn’t busy and was moving slowly. When the food arrived, several rolls were falling apart. I work in fast-paced kitchens, and this experience missed the mark. I’m unlikely to return based on this visit.
Sushi was fresh as well !
The dishes themselves are also concerning. Almost every plate I’ve received lately has been cracked, with visible buildup that makes them feel unsanitary. As someone who has worked in restaurants for years, I can also see how poorly this place is being run. The seating and table assignments are completely disorganized, and it’s obvious the owner plays favorites with who gets the most tables. On several occasions, I’ve seen the owner taking tables directly while actual servers are left with only one or two. The service has been unacceptable. For example, on my last visit, my waitress sat on her phone while I waited for boxes. This is not the kind of experience you’d expect from a place that I once considered one of my favorites. At this point, it really feels like the restaurant is being operated more as a money grab for the owners rather than as a place that values its customers.
