He took my order, I waited then had to ask for bread. They said it was being baked. The salad came out (brought out by someone else) after a long wait, still no bread, I asked again. Thirty seconds later my steak arrived. Still no bread, I asked again. It came out slightly warm. (Not freshly baked). Everything was brought out by different people. My waiter finally came by I showed him that I received everything at the same time all he did was say sorry. That’s appreciated but it doesn’t help my dinning experience.
Steak was cooked as requested (medium) but it was chard on one side, tasted burnt in areas.
He’s always on it without being overbearing. He keeps an eye on drinks, times multiple dishes perfectly, and makes sure everything is synchronized with the kitchen. You can tell he cares about the entire experience, not just his section. When he’s running things, everything feels smooth and intentional.
What really stands out is his memory and thoughtfulness. He remembers that I like a baked potato with a larger plate so I can cut into it without everything going everywhere, and he brings extra sides exactly how I like them without me even asking. That kind of detail is rare.
For context, I spent 10+ years in the service industry myself. I’ve been a dishwasher, busboy, server, and bartender, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Because of that, I don’t say this lightly when I say these guys are doing an excellent job.
This place as a whole has changed significantly over the last three to six months, in a really positive way. You can tell management is focused on building a strong culture, the kitchen is performing well, and the entire team is dialed in. Honestly, this place has success written all over it. Efren has management written all over him too. With the right training, I could easily see him managing or even helping running the place. The team leading this spot is top notch, and it shows.
