Reviews
As a restaurant employee, I’ve never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. I’d understand if I showed up 5 minutes before close, but it was 20 minutes — enough time to cook a pizza and send me on my way.
The manager and staff are lovely, kind people. I have no complaints about this establishment.
Marquee Pizzeria + Bar set the bar really high for everyone around them. Super happy I found this place.
First of all the dough is incredible and perfectly chewy. The sauces and toppings are high quality and comprise of well-thought out combinations. Everything I’ve tasted here has been delicious.
I’m a huge fan of wood fired pizza, and although some reviews might complain that it’s too thin, it HAS to be thin and have light enough toppings to be able to maneuver around the fire.
Lately, we do take out because we have little kids and it’s easy to grab on my way home from work so I don’t have accurate comments about the service. It seems like the online ordering function is disabled but you can still call a pizza in and they have it ready in 15-30 minutes.
Parking in the area has become more difficult because there are more businesses and events at the arena but you can usually find something within a short walk.
I went there over lunch today, and ordered a vegetarian pizza and bread sticks. The total cost was ~$30 for the food.
The pizza was pretty good, a bit burnt, but overall still quite good. It resembles a small pizza, although the toppings were pretty minimal. I went with some Mozzarella cheese on top (About $2 extra). The toppings were pretty minimal, even the veggies just felt like there wasn’t much on it. The $2 in cheese only had a few bits on it. Hy-Vee pizza provides far more toppings at a better value.
The breadsticks were about $7, but were quite good. There were 2 large breadsticks with sea salt on top with balsamic vinegar. The bread was doughy and quite good. $7 still feels quite high, but overall the best thing on the menu so far.
One big reason for the downgrade in ranking, and why personally I won’t be going back is the service fee. I absolutely despise service fees. A tax, that isn’t a tip, that artificially reduces the prices – which in my opinion are already far too high. It’s deceptive, and honestly absolutely wrong. As a blanket rule, if I encounter a place that does this, I will _never_ go there again, and also ensure I speak widely about it. NO place should be doing this. Raise the prices by 3% if you need to, stop artificially lowering the price and adding the fee at the end. It’s absurd, abusive to the customer, and seriously needs to stop. I’d consider going here again if this fee wasn’t there.
