My godson and I tried Baba Kabob yesterday while we were taking a break from playing Magic at At Ease Games near Harbor Freight. Baba Kabob is no-frills, but friendly, down-to-earth, and pretty tasty.

I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and my godson ordered the Baba kabob, which is essentially the same but with gyro meat included. Both sandwiches also came with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki.

My favorite thing about these sandwiches was how non-greasy they were. Sometimes halal street food can get greasy or overly oily, but these sandwiches weren’t like that. Also, the meat tasted pretty high quality. The large bottle of sriracha at the table was a nice plus, too.

Overall, pretty tasty, fresh halal street food. Prices are slightly steep, but the quality, atmosphere, and customer service offset that enough.

Baba the owner is real nice. He comes around to make sure you have everything you need for your meal. The food is very authentic. I had a gyro and it was bomb. The dumplings were amazing as was the potato bread they had. Don’t ask me the name of the bread, but ask for it. Don’t forget to buy yourself some of the red chili sauce the owner’s wife makes. It a vinegar and all natural chillies. It’s really good.

I came for the bolani and was not disappointed. The bolani was amazing, highly addictive and was a huge portion, enough for many to share as an appetizer. I never had bolani before, but I am definitely a fan. I also added the beef kabob to my order for some protein and was blown away by how tender and flavorful it was. Truly the best beef kabob I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection. I want to come back and try the other items on the menu!

It had been so long since I’d eaten Persian food, so my friend and I decided to try it out. We ordered a falafel sandwich with fries for my friend (the fries is a bomb), while I had the combo beef and chicken kabob with a yogurt drink. The yogurt drink was an interesting experience, and I’d love for my friends to try it next time. The food was delicious, with generous portions that were perfect for leftovers. The place was nice, the people were friendly, and we had a great dinner overall.

The absolute Best Afghan food in San Diego….without a doubt.
A must visit if you’re in town. Family-owned and operated and it shows with all the quality and love. All the meat is Halal.
Every item is a delicious Afghan masterpiece, carefully prepared to preserve the culture and authentic taste. The place is always clean and neat and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. If you look closely in the kitchen, you’ll see mom and pops in action.
We Love this place, my family and I always come here for a culinary experience which has not yet to disappoint…after 6 years.
I would list my “favorite” dishes, but I can honestly say, All of them without exaggeration. So go there and try something new in every visit.

Baba Kabob in San Diego is an absolute gem for anyone craving delicious and authentic Afghani food. The flavors are rich, the portions generous, and the prices are very reasonable. You can really tell they put care and tradition into every dish.

One item you must try is the Potato Bolani – crispy on the outside, perfectly spiced on the inside, and served with tasty chutney. It’s easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere.

The kebabs are juicy and tender, the rice is fragrant and fluffy, and the sides are always fresh. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the experience is consistently great.

Plenty of available parking makes it even more convenient, and the staff are warm and welcoming.

Highly recommend for a satisfying and authentic Afghani meal. Definitely going back!
