A popular Italian restaurant in Hallandale. Extensive menu. Huge American-style portions.
The place is so crowded that the kitchen clearly can’t keep up. While stuck waiting a long time for your food, you’re forced to listen to the waiter’s stupid, forced jokes—though he’s already quite literally hiding from the guests. On top of that, the service charge is included in the bill, so there is no way to express your feelings about the experience by lowering the tip.
The food overall is decent enough, but it’s uncharacteristically heavy for Italian cuisine; few people manage to finish both an appetizer and a main course. Everyone leaves the establishment with boxes of leftovers.
The desserts are a flat-out disappointment. We tried the tiramisu and the Napoleon: they were dry, overly sweet, and greasy.

Lovely spot. Good and on the ball service.
Our server Nina was very accommodating.
We had the mussels, clams, Kalamari, zucchini, chicken Parm, fettuccine Alfredo & veal piccata.

MIC DROP…Literally! First Impressions are the best! Everything was perfect! The live music, the food, the vino, the staff, Everything! We came here after a funeral for dinner to cheer us up, and it worked. We all left here in a better mood. Keep up the great work and we’ll see you soon! God Bless.

Went to this establishment tonight on the recommendation of a woman at Eddy V’s bar a few nights ago.
We really wanted to love this popular and lively place but what a disappointment.
The zucchini sticks appetizer were way too thin, the size of a wood match with no flavour, unless you soaked it in the tomato sauce that came with it.
Every dish seemed to come with a tomato base. I asked our waiter for a veal scaloppini in a peppercorn or Gorgonzola sauce, No not possible. Even the seafood risotto is in a tomato base….i guess that is what the Chef cooks, ALL tomato base.
So I decided to just eat some of my husband’s Veal Parmesan, but did ask for grilled vegetables as a side. The waiter Anthonio, forgot to put this side order through at the kitchen. So it arrived at the end of our meal.
We felt that the meal was subpar as well as the service. We do not plan on returning and cannot recommend it.

Food was very good, but service was on point. Difficult to find this kind of service in the us, and it’s what you feel like a real warm italian atmosphere, even if the restaurant got the tvs with sports and all that american style.
sat at the bar, the guys were very energetic and attentive, had the Vongole, then finished off with a Tiramisu and some espresso with sambuca, another classic.

New Year’s Eve. We are long time customers of your restaurant and have never been so angry or upset by the staff of a restaurant ever! We planned on spending New Year’s Eve we you and had made reservations 3 months in advance for 8:oo PM. We were a party of 2 and waited, without complaint, for 45 minutes to be seated. Standing. in the doorway was very uncomfortable especially for that evening.! Because they had added additional tables and we had just been seated, we asked to be moved the next table over, slightly out of the traffic area and that had just been vacated, but the waiter refused as did the hostess. Then the waited decided that it was OK to sit next to my wife to take our order, very uncomfortable! The waiter, named Guy refused to take an appetizer order; he tried to insist that we had to order everything at once and was quite rude about it. When we told him we were not ready to order our entrees and certainly not a dessert and told to give us time he finally put in the order. After we had the meat and cheese plate we ordered our entrees and were served at 10:00 PM. He never stopped to enquire about the food or to check to see if we need anything else. At10:30, as we were eating, he came and told use to “hurry up, I need the table”. Then told us “you have been there longer than a anyone else and we were taking money from him and he needed the table to seat a new group”. He claimed that we had arrived at 7:00 PM and then told me I was lying and we did not have 800 PM reservations. He also rudely told my wife that she was not eating fast enough! He had a terrible attitude when he talked with us. We came for New Year’s Eve and certainly expected to stay until after midnight, to relax and enjoy the live music and celebration. We then demanded to see the manager and Guy got angry and threw 2 of the empty plates from our table into a bus-tray on his way to the kitchen! I then demanded the bill from manager, Gianluca Matulli, paid and left to get our car at 10:40 PM, with our uneaten meal on the table. My wife was very upset and was left standing without any support, comment or consideration from any staff member waiting for me to pick her up. She cried all the way home. Your staff was happy to accept payment for a meal that we did not even finish eating due to the rudeness of the wait staff and management.
We never expected to have a New Year’s Eve celebration restricted to a 2 hour visit!! Our opinion is that the staff must be changed!
This was a horrible experience and we will never return nor recommend Matteo’s in Hallandale to anyone! Ruined the New Year for us as well.

Sit down over 1.5 hr and still no appetizers. We asked and all they can say is the kitchen is swamped. No one owning what is happening just to wait. Last time ever. They can’t even do a simple Arnold Palmer correct(tried 3 times!!!)
