The location is cute and small so it felt very cozy and comfortable when we were there. All the flavors were amazing and each dish was a hit for us. A true Mexican restaurant has a good Mole! We were most excited to try the crickets!

Xolo was wonderful!!! I will be back! It all began with fresh, thick, crunchy tortilla chips and a verde salsa we couldn’t stop dipping in, next time Ill get my own cup. My virgin Mojito was yummy and bursting with juicy lime and earthy fresh mint. My table ordered beef empanadas, fish tacos and shrimp in a Chipotle sauce on the side was freshly sautéed carrots and green beans. I also had a side of yellow rice. Everything was fresh and flavorful. No dessert this time saving that for the next visit.

North Americans’ idea of Mexican food is overwhelmingly Tex-Mex, a culinary hybrid of Anglophone settler colonists and authentic, indigenous food culture centering local, historic ingredients.
Xolo serves you dishes you recognize: tacos in the Tex-Mex idiom and it offers a selection of more adventurous ingredients, if you’re prepared to explore.
The ambiance is a modern expression of traditional color pallette and what looks to be faux afore plaster. The lighting is cool and soothing. The service is gentle and comforting.
Xolo makes a point of advertising their tequila selection. I don’t drink these days, but I was getting very into ultra premium tequilas when I gave it up. My brief glance at the bar suggests that a experienced tequila consumer would be quite well rewarded for their efforts.
While serving the usual Tex-Mex standards to please the crowd, some sturdy Central American delicacies are right there on the menu, waiting for you to take a chance.
Easily one of the best Mexican meals I’ve had in North American. Philadelphia should be proud to host this venue and protect it at all costs.
I will definitely be back again and that right soon

This was my daughter and my first time. And they didn’t disappoint us. I had a mango mojito and grilled chicken nachos. Omg!! The chicken was fresh and you can taste the grill. My daughter had a strawberry drink i forgot the name and grilled steak tacos. They were so good she was ready to order more. We will be back.

This place is very nice, and the food is good. My only complaint is the parking. Otherwise, enjoy the food, atmosphere, and great service.

Our first visit. Great food and service. Next time we’ll try outside seating. Inside was a bit loud it was hard to hear my daughter speak. I had to put on noise-canceling headphones to hear her. Hence the 4 for atmosphere.
The food was really good, with great flavors and fresh ingredients. Nice selection of drinks and Mexican beers. The service was very professional and attentive. We’ll be back again and again. Such a nice gem

I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it is and the food could use a bit more flavor. Salsa had zero spicy level. And they gave me the same salsa for my tacos as they had for chips lol. At least change it up a bit. The cocktail I had was good. I guess you can’t expect mexican food in PA to be as good as it is in TX. I will still come back and try more stuff off the menu to see what else they have to offer.

Love Xolo Tacos. Authentic Mexican food with wonderful and friendly service. And delicious tequila— they have a great selection from Don Julio to Herrera and 1800. If you like mojitos, they make good ones. Prices are pretty reasonable for the Mainline too and there is free parking nearby. Enjoy!

4th update
Several times we tried to order take out and they won’t take any more orders by the time we call (I totally understand and would rather them do that than give subpar food or make you wait for a long time). Last night we placed an order early for a later pick up time and it worked perfectly. The guac was still amazing and the tacos were excellent. We added a few Corona Lights with lime and had a little happy feast.

3rd update. We have been back many times and like everything we have ordered. Attaching photos of our take out tacos. Great for picnics! THE GUAC IS AMAZING

2nd update. Went back again for the salmon and it was still delicious, but looked so different. See pic.

Update: went back again. (we have been there many times and were afraid it was getting “tired”) but last night’s food was phenomenal. We sat outside. That’s one of the main reasons we love that spot.
I ordered the salmon and it was really one of the best tasting entree I’ve had anywhere in a long time. See pic.
Service is still on “island time” you’ll get everything you ask for…eventually. Our server wasn’t the friendliest, but maybe she had an off night.
It surprised me that they don’t take bar order right away. I was almost ready to go to the bar and get a drink for myself while we waited. We ended up ordering our drinks when we ordered dinner (waited for about 10 minutes to order) instead of having one with the chips and a second with the meal. They could sell so much more alcohol (and they have a steep markup) if they kept on top of that.
Older review:
Hit or miss. Depends on the entree and depends on the night. Service tends to be a little slow no matter how crowded or empty. (I don’t mean bringing the entree as that takes time to prepare. I mean if you need a lime or a glass for your beer or water refills)
A little pricey for what it is. Prices are more in line with what they “want the restaurant to be”. Overall “good” food at “great” food prices. Restaurant decor is nice.
