Stopped by Maguro on a Sunday evening for dinner and after checking out the menu and vibrant decor, it felt like a great spot to try.

The cocktail menu had several appealing options and the lychee martini was a tropical, refreshing sip that paired nicely with the meal.

The crab fried rice really hit the spot with a generous amount of crabmeat mixed into a flavorful blend of rice and vegetables.

The decor added to the experience and provided just the right ambiance for a relaxed and enjoyable dinner.

There’s a late-night authentic Thai food open Sunday–Tuesday after the regular restaurant hour. We went there, and I’m glad we did. The food was delicious and very authentic—it felt like eating Thai street food in Thailand. The prices are very reasonable as well. If you want to try late-night Thai food, I recommend making a reservation in advance to secure your seat. There was live acoustic music too. It’s a great place for a night out with friends.

This is my third time back at Maguro, and it’s been an up-and-down journey each time, but I’ve grown to love the place.

Each visit, I ordered the Jumbo Nigiri Combo. The first two visits, they were out of uni (my favorite) and allowed me to substitute it with another item already in the combo. Unsurprisingly I was disappointed that this happened TWICE (even at the time of opening), but I understand that sometimes you just gotta roll with it. Fortunately on my third visit, they had uni and I was one happy eater!

Service:
I believe this is one area that the restaurant can improve in. I notice that they are often understaffed, and this is evident in the fact that upon entry, it takes over a minute for someone to seat me. Additionally, service has been rather slow but I had a better experience with it on my third visit!

Food:
Jumbo Nigiri Combo ($35.95)
– Awesome: huge cuts of fish and good value for the price. It does come with a lot of rice but I’m not complaining!

Anago ($14)
– Portion is rather small for the price but the flavor and quality is great

Avocado Fresh Rolls ($7.95)
– Did not expect to love this so much!! The creamy peanut sauce compliments this refreshing roll very nicely.

Overall, this place is awesome with many options for sushi and Thai food lovers. Service can be slow, but it’s the great food and value that brings me back.

This place markets itself as Japanese / Thai fusion , but the quality of the fish is cheap. Most of the high ratings seem to come from people who simply don’t have much to compare it to.

First off, the restaurant is clearly owned and operated by Fuzhou-style Chinese staff and chefs. It feels like just another spot targeting non-Asian customers who may not recognize the difference. I ordered a sushi don, a sushi platter, and basil fried rice.

The basil fried rice was especially disappointing. It was wet and soaked in sauce. Authentic basil fried rice should have the basil deep-fried first to release its aroma, then stir-fried with the rice. This was nowhere close.

As for the sushi, the fish quality was on par with low-end buffet sushi—maybe slightly better, but not by much.

Overall, this restaurant failed to properly represent any Asian cuisine, whether Chinese, Japanese, or Thai. This was a total disappointment.

One of the best sushi spots around. The rolls were creative, the sashimi melted in your mouth, and the service was very friendly.

Great food and sushi here. Definitely will come back. The did tasted so fresh and delicious. I was so full after eating my meal. Usually, eating sushi I still have a feeling I could eat more but here I was full! The restaurant wasn’t crowded and I was able to find parking and get seated quickly.
