Visited this spot around 8pm on a Sunday evening and easily found a spot at the bar-there were also some open tables. Had a GLUTEN FREE fried chicken sandwich with french fries, which can be nearly impossible to find. For anyone who doesn’t like mayo, I added that before taking this photo. The food is served in large portions-many folks at the bar ordered the nachos, which come in a half or full portion. Also, had the prickly pear lemonade “mocktail” Great service and the bartender checked with the chef on any Gluten Free questions I had about the menu. Open for brunch on weekends, opens at 4pm during the week. I wish I lived closer. 5 stars!

If you think “gluten free” means “sad, flavorless, cardboard-adjacent,” you clearly haven’t been to the Cleat.

I came for a drink and left a devoted disciple of their house-made gluten-free chicken fingers—crispy, golden perfection that could make even the most die-hard wheat lover convert.

These aren’t your frozen-from-a-bag imposters. They’re tender on the inside, shatter-crisp on the outside, seasoned like someone in the kitchen actually cares (because they do), and paired with sauces that make you wonder if you’ve been wasting your dipping potential your whole life.

Honestly, they taste so good, I had to triple-check they were gluten free…and then I ate more. The rest of the menu is stacked with GF-friendly options that don’t feel like “alternatives” — they feel like the main event.

Add in the fact that the place has a laid-back Cape vibe, local craft beers, and a staff that’s so friendly you’ll think you accidentally wandered into a friend’s backyard cookout, and you’ve got yourself a spot worth bookmarking and bragging about.

If you’re gluten-free on Cape Cod, stop Googling “where can I eat?” and just come here. And if you’re not gluten-free? Come anyway. The chicken fingers alone are a public service.

Cleat & Anchor: Proof that eating gluten free doesn’t mean giving up flavor — it means finding the right table to sit at.

Food was good and portions were plenty. Good cocktails as well, fun atmosphere.

Had the Elote Margarita, husband had the regular. Their version of pouting was tots (which, let me say, are better than fries) and clam chowder on top. Would definitely order again. I also had the scallops which were reasonably priced and probably had a about a dozen.

Cleat and Anchor has impressed us every time we’ve visited. The cocktail menu is absolutely amazing, their bar manager really knows what they’re doing. They also have a great beer selection, with some sought after and hard to find breweries on tap. The biggest reason my wife and I keep going back is that they have a great selection of Gluten-Free fried food, including mozzarella squares and fried pickles!

This is a great spot for a date night, a quick bite, or a big party. Indoor is intimate and dim, and their outside space is open and lively. Our friends with kids love their “Toddler Rave” events, a great time to bring the little ones out during the day. Always good live music lineups.

Many gluten-free options here including the clam chowder. Very good pork belly and cocktails. Open year round thankfully. Several options I would come back to order.

The dry rub Buffalo tenders are different, we didn’t like them. The fish and chips were average and the pulled pork mac n’ cheese was good. Our server was okay, we wanted to love this place but probably won’t rush back. The beer selection was very good, maybe next time we go just for drinks.

I’m not a bad review type of person but I was disappointed. I walked in after visiting 4 other places where I couldn’t get a seat at the bar since I was traveling alone.
I was able to sit down and sit next to someone who was not working but because they were probably short staffed or had a new bartender working she jumped right in. But it took a while to be asked if I wanted anything or if I was ready to order.
Nothing on the menu called out to me. Typical fried everything. So I got an old stand by, Fish and Chips. Fish was decent. I think they need to change the name to French fries or just fries. They aren’t chips. Chips are like steak fries, not frozen tasteless potatoes. They also gave me about 2lbs of fries too. I ate only a quarter of what I was given. If I were management, maybe cut your own potatoes, chip size, season them, and serve about a 1/4 of what I was given tonight.
I see the place has plenty of good reviews so maybe I was there on a bad night.

So many gluten free options! I got the fish and chips and they were delicious. They have a separate fryer for gluten free fried items.

The parking lot has few spots and seems dangerous too. Even if you park across the street, it is such a busy road and there is no crosswalk.

The restaurant and parking can be difficult for wheelchair users or folks with mobility aids. The parking lot is gravel and the entrance is on the side/back of the lot. Inside, the space is accessible itself but the bathrooms are tiny and require a step up. They should have an accessible bathroom.
