First and foremost, I’m not sure how anyone can beat their lunch special during the week. 2 items for $10 is a STEAL and they are NOT skimpy with their portions!
During this visit I ordered a simple bean & cheese burrito and 3 beef taquitos with guac and cheese.
Their Jr. Burritos are MASSIVE, and a LITERAL STEAL as a part of the lunch special. The beans were creamy and wonderfully seasoned and the cheese was perfectly melted. The added touch of the grilled tortilla (after making the burrito) left a wonderful taste and texture on the tortilla.
The taquitos were freshly fried, and wonderfully seasoned.
All in all, if I had added on a drink or two, considering their impressive salsa station and self-serve warm chips, this easily could have served 2 people.
As mentioned before their self-served warm-chip station and salsa bar were also impressive. All the salsa’s tasted incredible and fresh!
Their drink station was pretty typical with regards to their Pepsi soda products, but I loved that they also offer some aguas, both Horchata and Jamaica. While I will always prefer ‘homemade’ aguas offerings, the fact that you can get refills is great – even if it’s from a mix.
The final piece that thoroughly impressed me was how clean the entire place was. The eating area, the counter tops, the restrooms, even the kitchen area was organized and clean!
I fully intend to come back again and again, as this place is fantastic, generous, provides excellent service and sells delicious products! While it’s a bit tough to find in the plaza, as it’s tucked into a corner, it is 100% worth a visit! Go support this great local business!!!
FOLLOW UP, 2 DAYS LATER:
Ended up loving Primos so much I brought my family, this time on the weekend.
PRIMOS DOES NOT MISS. So blown away, truly.
This time we ordered one of everything off their ‘lunch special’ menu and EVERY item was AMAZING.
The quesadilla is HUGE and they are NOT stingy with the cheese. It has a great cheese pull and the tortilla was perfectly grilled.
The fish tacos are also MASSIVE and were DELICIOUS. The fish was wonderfully flavorful with a great crunchy exterior and soft interior.
The Jr. Bean Rice & Cheese burrito was fantastic… still absolutely massive.
This time we also got sides and a drink with our order (we “Made it Mas”) which was an additional $5 (so far, $15 for 2 entrees, 2 sides and a drink).
THE SIDES DO NOT MISS EITHER, YA’LL!!! The street corn (grilled and seasoned) was INCREDIBLE. The Queso dip was wonderfully creamy, warm, and a perfect dipping sauce. Even their “whole beans” were simple, yet tasty with subtle seasoning and a great mouth feel! The only disappointing part was the tiny serving of fries – BUT, to their credit they were VERY crunchy and tasty!
I still think Primos lunch special (with or without the “make it mas”) is the BEST deal on Mexican food in the area.
2 orders ($32.xx out the door) fed a family of 4 WITH leftovers.
I’ll say it again: RUN, DON’T WALK TO PRIMOS. You truly won’t regret it. It may not be fancy, but it’s fresh, tasty, generous, and won’t leave you disappointed!
I thought the flavors are good and not stingy with serving sizes. We paid $27 for a 1- two taco plate combo with rice and beans and a protein bowl amd a large drink.
I like that the chips and salsa are self served and chips are in a warm.
Also, bathroom is very clean.
They have a salsa bar with 4 salsas and pickled veggies. The salsa range from mild to decently hot so everyone should find something they like.
I’ve tried a burrito with adobada and chorizo and a breakfast burrito with carne adada and chorizo. What stands out more than the meat are the beans and potatoes.
The salsa bar is good and has good choices of salsas. My rating for this place is maybe a 7. Most likely will not go back….
Thank you for reading my review.
