Tootsie’s Everything Waffle is an absolute must! We tried the fried chicken, mini bites, sweet potato waffle, and shrimp & grits—and every single dish was fantastic. The fried chicken breast was incredibly juicy and seasoned to perfection, hands down some of the best we’ve had.
A huge shoutout to Karliegh, our waitress—she was amazing! Her recommendations were spot on and made the experience even better. This is by far the best breakfast and fried chicken place we’ve found, and we will definitely be back!
We came as a family of five—two adults and three children—excited to try this restaurant because of all the hype. We were seated, looked over the menu, and placed our order within a reasonable amount of time. However, after waiting over an hour and a half with no food, we began to wonder what was going on. We watched multiple tables who arrived after us receive their meals and finish eating, and some customers even mentioned to us that they couldn’t believe we were still waiting.
Eventually, our waitress returned and apologized, explaining that our ticket had been misplaced or lost. She said they would offer a discount because of the mistake. By this point, my children were extremely hungry and upset from waiting so long.
When the food finally arrived, the quality was very disappointing. I ordered the oxtails and grits, and it had very little flavor and was extremely greasy. My children ended up sharing my plate because their meals had not arrived yet. One of my daughters received bacon that was undercooked, and while another child eventually got their food, my son had to wait an additional 30 minutes after everyone else.
I had also ordered chicken and waffles, and when it arrived, the chicken was undercooked and pink inside, which is a serious health concern. I had to avoid eating parts of it because it was clearly not fully cooked. The waffle itself lacked flavor and tasted artificial.
We were told a manager would come speak with us, but no one ever did. In the end, only about $24 was taken off our bill, which did not reflect the severity of the situation, especially considering the excessive wait time, poor food quality, and lack of proper customer service.
As someone who creates content and reviews experiences regularly, I was genuinely looking forward to sharing a positive experience. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. Between the long wait, misplaced order, undercooked food, lack of flavor, and poor resolution, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
However, the service was somewhat disorganized. One person in our party received the wrong meal and was still charged for food they didn’t order. One of the entrées I ordered never arrived, although it was removed from my bill. The food also came out at different times, which made it difficult for everyone to enjoy the meal together.
Our party was seated in the back behind a hidden wall, which is actually a very cute and unique concept. However, the setup could use some improvement to better accommodate larger groups or private events. The single tables did not work well for a party setting, and about half of our group had to sit at the bar, which made them feel a bit separated from the rest of the celebration.
It might be helpful for the establishment to invest in a few long tables or round tables with tablecloths that can be brought out for parties and stored when not in use. Additional staff training for handling large parties could also help the overall experience run more smoothly.
Overall, I would rate the experience 7/10. The food was good and the staff were friendly, but better organization and event setup would make a big difference.
If you’re ever in the area, this is definitely a spot you don’t want to miss. Great food, great people, and a true reflection of culture and community. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in town!
I also had a pomegranate mimosa. Oh. My. Goodness. One of the best mimosas I’ve ever had. They use the good stuff! Tasty, tasty!
We would eat here all the time if we lived here. The staff, food, and ambiance were all worthy of 5 stars! Can’t wait to visit again!!! Thanks for such a great experience!!!
