I saw a video of this restaurant advertising on tiktok and decided to check it out. So thankful I did, the food was delicious. I had never tried jollof rice before and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. Wings were perfect. Definitely will be back again soon to try other things on the menu.

As I love 2 support new black owned businesses, the excitement is palpable… the disappointment always come in wen u actually patronize the business. Most of the time customer service is always the down fall.. it took the server over 15 mins to acknowledge me & take my order. Once order was placed, I payed & she gave a wait time of 25 minutes as all meals r prepared to order.. I return 35 mins later & u hear chef Teekay ask wat was my order. The server came back out 2 ask take my order again. Like wait wat. So all this time I’ve been waiting my food wasn’t not being made . Chef Teekay came out & apologized asking to give her 10 mins. Which turned into another 30 mins. It took over an hr to get my food. Lawd knows if I hadn’t prepaid my $75 order I would’ve left. Mean while others r walking n & picking up their orders wit no problem.. smh

I ordered: egusi soup with chicken laps (delicious but not enuff egusi, I had more chicken then anything else)
Fried salmon, jollof rice & seafood salad (salmon delicious, jollof was waayyy too smokey & tasted off, seafood salad was more like mayo salad used waayy to much mayo)
Chicken Shawarma (flavors were good, but it definitely wasn’t shawarma, it was loaded with coleslaw).. & didn’t have a bit of middle eastern or shawarma flavor. I assume cuz she used shawarma wrap she named it shawarma!

I have ordered from here at least a handful of times, the food is great and the service is nice. I just wish the prices were consistent. Sometimes I pay a couple extra dollars on the exact same order. Aside from that It would’ve gotten 5 stars.

The biggest issue is the customer service. My husband called in the order, I arrived 20 minutes later. The server took 10 minutes to come out then as I’m standing there she’s singing as she ties her wrapper to put her baby on her back. No problem, I wait, I have babies too but I am not rude. She adjusts her wrapper, still singung THEN asks me for my order. She’s rude and her customer service is poor. I wasnt being gifted the food, I was paying the same way she pays when she goes to the store. I told her my husband called in, sings some more while still fixing wrapper. I call my husband, pissed off, to confirm that he called it in. He did, so he calls while I’m sitting there. They do not answer the phone. I hear the phone ringing then the other young lady comes out, sees me, and returns to the back.
This was my second visit there. The first time was fine. My husband went back Saturday 2/14, 3rd visit, last visit! He had the same negative experience. I dont plan on visiting again. The shawarma is good but bad customer service, more than once, is a deal breaker for me. Best of luck to them.

The first time I tasted her food was fried rice,the pastries are nice too. I dont compromise when I cook ,I use herbs and spices so when I eat a good food I know. I know it’s not easy to run a business please dont compromise, your crowd would find you! As for the people complaining about price and time order ahead via ubereat or doordash there is always an offer or try buying gift cards from cvs or groupon,use fetch and ibotta for cash back. If u need a referral let me know. A chef is different from a cook!!!

I was at this restaurant a few days ago, ordered the jollof rice and goat meat on the side – delicious!!! I craved that smoky jollof again today with goat meat and peppered fish. The fish was just fried with a small scoop of stew on it:( The rice and meat were the same except I got some pieces of goat meat stewed and some not stewed which is a bit disappointing as the stew is really good. I think they need to work on being consistent.

I’m wondering why Chefteekay is not yet a house hold name in New Jersey!!! Goshhhhh These guys are beyond amazingggg! Their food; too good! Been scouting for a good Nigerian meal that hasn’t compromised on taste and I’m delighted to have found one alas. I’m not one to do this but felt like I owed them the best reviews ever for such a great meal, outstanding service and generally remarkable experience. Thank you to the power twins!

I recently had the pleasure of having Chefteekay cater my daughter’s fourth birthday party at an indoor playground, and it was an absolute hit! We ordered a tray of jollof rice with peppered chicken, along with the jumbo finger foods pack, which included samosas, spring rolls, goat, wings, and puff puff (something like a Nigerian donut).
We had a diverse group of guests (Europeans, Caribbeans, Americans, Africans, etc.), and I was a bit nervous about how the food would be received but I knew I wanted ethnic food as a treat. Chefteekay truly exceeded my expectations! Everyone, without exception, raved about the food and asked where they could order it themselves. The dishes were flavorful, beautifully prepared, and there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The parents especially appreciated having more than just the typical kids’ party pizza, which was exactly what I was aiming for. Chefteekay, thank you for giving our esteemed guests a wonderful meal and for being so kind and gracious throughout the process. I can’t wait to use your services at least two more times this year. I truly hope your business continues to thrive for many years to come!
