Welcoming spot serving Chinese specialties (including many meatless options) family-style.

We used to love the Single Pebble but unfortunately, we feel the menu and food is not what it once was.
We had the pork bun, mock eel, tangerine chicken, spicy green beans, spring roll, and vegetable lo mein. We wanted the pork lo mein but that is no longer available. Everything was good but lacking. The tangerine chicken was lacking flavor. The mock eel was also lacking flavor. Hubby said the green beans were good but not as spicy as they used to be and asked for the most spice.
Service was excellent, everything was great with the service. One thing to note is the food comes to the table as soon as it is ready.
Also, the liquor selection at the bar is extremely limited so we had tea.

Returned after several years. Dined early so place not busy. The food is brought out when prepared. The lo mein came before the dumplings. Ordered Tangerine Peel Chicken. The outer coating was crisp and chicken tender but the expectations of a hint of citrus was dashed in first bite. Broccoli was tender but cooled quickly. Portion size okay but pricey at $40. Steamed pork dumplings had generous portion of meat inside, dumpling was thick and chewy. Dipping sauce had an interesting vinegar mix with soy sauce. Tart and salty. Asked for a side of chili sauce. It had spicey heat making the dumplings taste a bit better. The lo mein was way too salty for both of us. The vegetables were not as plentiful as we remembered having on our first visit. Thin slices of some peppers, some mushrooms and a ton of green onions were placed around the edge of plate. Sauce pooled under the noodles making the need to stir it frequently to keep the noodles coated. Dessert was very disappointing. Crème brûlée had the caramelized sugar on top but the custard base was watery and bland. The tapioca pudding was so watery you could drink it, only saving grace was the flavor was palatable enough to consume it. Waitress was a bit over attentive but would rather have that than missing when needed. Could be because it was still quiet in restaurant. Staff had to walk down stairs through our dining area then up stairs to retrieve food from kitchen area then repeat to get back to tables on other side. You receive a pebble with your bill at the end of the meal.

We went in for a date night. Our server was a really nice young lady. The other two people in the dining room were two young guys (the host and bartender), both of whom were talking/laughing a lot the whole dinner. There was quiet music playing in the restaurant, which was pleasant. The food we ordered (vegetarian dumplings in chili oil, and the mock eel) was incredibly salty. I couldn’t have more than a couple pieces of each. The eel ($25) was balanced on the tiniest plate imaginable, with no veggies or sides on the plate.

I recently stayed at a nearby hotel and walked over to check out this restaurant’s menu. Prices were not listed on the menu outside, but I called in an order for pickup. The staff on the phone and at the counter were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated.
However, the meal itself did not seem to match the price. The pictured to-go order—green beans, white rice, and shrimp—was over $80. I wasn’t informed of the cost beforehand, and since I had just arrived in town, I didn’t think to ask. I assumed prices would be slightly above average given the college-town location, but the total was a surprise when I arrived to pick up my food.
The shrimp unfortunately were overcooked and chewy. On the positive side, the green beans were very flavorful. While I appreciate the great service, the food quality and pricing together left me disappointed. Be sure to ask the prices here. I didn’t believe the cost and had to double check on their menu.
The shrimp dish was almost $50 and the green beans were $19.

Amazing food, great friendly service! We stop here every time we’re in Burlington for the mock eel! I’m super happy that they added the tasting menus; I was worried going there with just two people that we wouldn’t be able to try a lot of things, but the tasting menus (a meat menu and a vegetarian menu) let us try everything while we were there for our anniversary. Love the atmosphere, and the food and drinks were delicious!

Enjoyed a fantastic family style meal and great drinks. Favorites were the Buddha beef, the dry green beans and the veg spring rolls. Service was amazing. Could not have asked for a better experience.

We’ve visited A Single Pebble three times and always have a wonderful experience. Last night, we went to celebrate my birthday. Although there was a small miscommunication with our server that led to the wrong dish being served, the team went above and beyond to make it right. We enjoyed another fantastic meal and left feeling truly valued as customers

We had the tangerine chicken, chicken pad Thai, potato dumplings & veggie dumplings in chili oil! Everything was very good – huge portions meant for more than one person. Everything comes to you on a lazy Susan type of thing and things just come out as they’re ready. Very fresh!
Staff was attentive and helpful, very friendly.
The turtle cheesecake is a must!
Just a note for fellow wheelchair users – call in advance and ask for a table on the first floor, there are only a few down there and they fill up! The other two sections of the restaurant are only accessible by stairs.
Great dinner and a nice night!!

Booked a reservation for 3. Hostess was great, waitress was on time. We ordered family style as suggested. Portions were fine but our food didn’t smash it out of the park like I remember this place doing. Our fried rice was over cooked and didn’t have much of a fry to it. One set of meat dumplings came out cool on one side. Then our fried tangerine chicken didn’t have much crisp. Waitress was a sweetheart and knew everything about the food. This place was a world class restaurant when I went to school here something different happened Thursday night.

What an amazing place. I come here every time I’m in town, usually multiple times. The Buddha Beef and Dry-Fried Green Beans are must haves, but there are so many good options. The owner is a wonderful woman and an amazing cook. Highly recommend
