Not too busy…small line right when opening.
Overall, food was good. Service could definitely be a bit faster and more attentive.
Should be able to find parking in the plaza.
There was no waiting at opening hours, but it quickly filled up by noon. This restaurant does not take reservations and requires all members of a party present to be seated.
But I am sorry, the food disappointed me.
We had The Nozawa Trust Me course, most of the dishes and nigiri with ponzu were way too sour that we could not enjoy the fish. Ponzu sauce mostly mix with the rice. Even the extra ord Albacore belly that we expected the most also disappointed us just because of ponzu sauce.
We always looking for good quality fish with good texture and SugarFish mostly offer it (but not all kind of fish)
I had sushi from outside/inside the country before, but sadly SugarFish wont be the place we will comeback.
But def a good place to hangout.
Date/time of visit: Friday night, 8:30 PM
Parking: in the adjacent lot, shared with other businesses. Free. Kinda busy so parked near the back
Party size: 5
Environment/ambience: busy and small. Not a place for large parties. Max prob 5, maybe 6. Loud, mixed crowds. No TVs. Kinda dark inside so kinda hard to read the menus.
Service: ok; an hour wait. When they texted us, we thought table was ready but it was another 30 mins! There’s a bar next door at Toscanova; just drank there and waited. Instead of waiting at Sugarfish, pretty cramped inside. Then the waiter.. we asked why it seemed like the rice wasn’t packed tightly on some of the sushi and falling apart.. “it’s prepared that way.. sometimes the rice falls apart that way on some sushi..” Service itself was good.
Food: food is great.. we ordered 2 Nozowa Trust Me and 2 Don’t Think. Just Eat. Sushi was great, fish tasted great. Came out pretty quick. It was enough for 5.. we had a few sake bottles and Asahi.
Cost: ~$450 with tip
Would I go back (yes/no): 60/40; not many places worth 90 minute wait to eat and they don’t take reservations
I asked for Siracha, was responded we don’t give out extra sauces the food comes as per chefs rules , I asked for something Spicy and was only given Wasabi. SMFH
I felt like a dog, getting little treats.
Just know though that they really mean it when they say they will not hold a table until your full party is there. Would seat us until my friend was fully done walking from the parking lot. Overall great experience and would recommend it.
