i like the resto which has an excellent JP deco (paper lanterns highlighted) vs delisle court which is dull and lacks maintenance. copious portions and high quality food w/straightforward menu. kind but distant service. HVAC problem. high Q/P

Our favorite sushi place! Quality/price is excellent. We have been eating there for the past 5 years at least once a week and only had good experiences.

Sushi Gen was such a treat! The staff were incredibly kind, and everything we tried was fresh and full of flavor. One standout for me was the salmon and cream cheese — it was unbelievably smooth and delicious, the kind of bite that makes you pause and go “wow.” You can really taste the quality in each roll. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

We had a great experience at Sushi Gen! The food was super fresh and full of flavor — everything we tried was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance made us feel right at home. It was my daughter’s first time trying Japanese cuisine, and she absolutely loved it. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming to this sushi restaurant for years, and it never disappoints! The quality of the ingredients is excellent—always fresh—and you can even watch as they prepare everything. The service is great, and the atmosphere is calm and cozy. I wouldn’t trade it for any other sushi place!

Sushi Gen is my go-to spot for fresh, comforting sushi. This cozy restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere and top-quality dishes that make you feel right at home. The fish is consistently fresh, with a perfect balance of flavors in every bite.

Favorites like sashimi platters, the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Dragon Roll are always delicious, but the seasonal specials truly stand out. The friendly, attentive staff add a personal touch, making every visit memorable.
Plus, their washroom is impeccably clean, adding to the overall pleasant experience.
Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or a newcomer, Sushi Gen is a local gem that delivers a delightful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Comfortable small restaurant with paper lanterns design. Watch and don’t sit at the centre lane as its back to back to other table. Literally, you can hear all their and when sitting upright you csn bang the head of the person of next table. The bento box lunch is
good price and good quality. For deep fried vegetables dish,I really don’t like how Broccoli was fried tasting like eating flour dough. Yam and egg plants friend were good tasting. Grilled squid “Iya Ki ” was delicious with right sauce.

Sushi Gen is located inside this little alcove looking area, where a bunch of another shops/restaurants are located inside of. Kind of like an alleyway of sorts. There’s a sign at the entrance, above at the arches. They’re not located at the corner of the street. We went on a Sunday afternoon, just past 2 pm.

From the outside, the restaurant already looked unique: They had these “Japanese lantern/sign things” going down vertically, connected to each other (sorry, don’t remember what to call them). These decorations were on the other side of the glass. The entrance had a little decorative personality type items behind the glass. Their lunch menu out front.

Inside, on their walls, they had these huge/enlarged pictures & prices of their menu. This menu wall leads down into the hallway where the restaurant’s washrooms were. The doors of the washrooms has a little decorative “women’s/men’s” icon on it. Probably the most unique one I’ve seen so far. The restaurant itself feels like I’ve stepped into an izakaya of some kind (never been in one, just seen so many videos/photos), but like “contemporary”, as they put it in their Google Maps description. It feels like they’re trying to recreate an alleyway that’s filled with restaurants/izakayas or something, considering the decor and the placement of them.

The menu is a physical menu. It was a very pretty menu (no clue why I didn’t take photos here). My friends ordered 1x Maki Party Tray ($35.00) to share between them. One of my friends also ordered 1x Takoyaki (forgot to take a photo, he downed it so fast). Our waitress thought that the friend that ordered the party tray was going to eat all 38 sushi roll pieces by himself. Her facial expression was funny. We reassure her that the party tray was going to be shared between the two of them.

After my friends finished their first Maki Tray, they ordered a second one… And the reaction from our waitress was priceless. She was surprised and confused. She asked them to make sure – like really sure if they wanted to really eat another 38 sushi rolls between them.

I ordered the Premium Box ($23.99 – bento set), which comes with a Salad, Miso Soup, 3pc of Cucumber Roll, 3pc of Salmon Roll, 3pc of Salmon Sashimi. I also ordered 1x Edamame ($6.99 – appetizer).

First thing we noticed is that the food is really good. Quality wise – it’s the most best sushi/sashimi/takoyaki we’ve had. We’re coming from eating at AYCE sushi buffets (all for that saving money). My friends enjoy their sushi, however they avoid the avocado. They do try to pawn off the avocado sushi roll to me.

My bento box was so much larger than I expected. And so were the Edamame appetizer. For the appetizer, I was expecting one of those regular, small bowls. I got a heaping platter. 10/10, best appetizer size ever. For the Premium Box, you get to choose which protein you want in your box. There’s a selection of: Salmon, Chicken, Beef, Beef Ribs… And maybe a 5th option, but I can’t remember. I went with Salmon. Again, I didn’t expect such a larger salmon to grace my presence… Well, the tempura was huge, especially the shrimp. The orange looking sauce in the center of the bento box is sweet and sour sauce for the Spring Rolls. The Salmon Sashimi was the most thickest, most fat, sashimi I have ever seen in my life. We’re all so used to seeing thin to very thin sashimi. The vegetable tempura was delicious. Dipping the tempura into the … What I assume to be the tempura sauce, was very tasty. An added layer of depth in flavor. The salmon sashimi was very buttery and creamy. Texture was smooth. Didn’t have a fishy taste/smell. Also didn’t make my stomach upset a few hours later. The cooked salmon was cooked to perfection in my eyes and to my taste buds. The skin was nice and crunchy. Crispy. The vegetables underneath was pretty good too. Slightly on the saltier side as it has been sitting in its own salty soup liquid.

Overall, this spot shot up in my favorite go-to places. Very good quality Japanese food, prices are actually decent, quantity was surprisingly good.

Great tasting sushi and good deals but I found a large bone in my spicy salmon roll so had to deduct a star. Update: ordered a California roll tray and everything was fine with that order.
