Delicious clam chowder! Also have Happy Hour: M-F 3-5p & 7-8p, great bar along the boardwalk with beach view.

Beach front location. Order at the counter, take a number and then find a seat either inside or out. We sat outside on a beautiful day and listened to the waves as we ate lunch. Clam chowder was good, but just a bit gritty. Bloody Mary was OK, not great. Eh…

It had been 20+ years since I last visited Mr. Ricks and this will be the last as the owners have decided to merge it with their other operation The Custom House next door.
It used to be a nice little place further up the hill with a dtunning view of the bay, now it is down the beach with all the other restaurants and shops.
The bar tender was cool and dug up.one of the last Mr. Ricks sweatshirts for me.
Sad day.

Always enjoy coming here. My favorite place on the main strip of Avila Beach. The music and drinks are always good, and the food is always served quickly. It can get busy, but we are always able to find a table, eat, drink, and then play some billiards. Thank you! Be back soon, I hope! ❤️

Had lunch at Mr. Ricks at Avila Beach. Location is incredible, patio is dog friendly. They have “dog rules” on every patio table, but they are not enforced. For example, the rules say barking or biting dogs will be asked to leave, but there were a couple small dogs, a Jack Russell in particular, that lunged, nipped, and barked at other dogs, and even escaped his leash and had to be chased down by the owner inside the restaurant – with no consequences. If you have rules, enforce them.
Service was great, food was so so – about what you’d expect from a restaurant with such a prime location – they don’t have to make it in the quality or price of their food.
I had the salmon Caesar salad – tasty but small portions and the croutons were more like small rocks than dried bread – why do restaurants do this to croutons?
My spouse had dairy and gluten-free tacos; not bad but waaay too many onions. Salsa was tasty.
So – great location, great service, not bad food, pricey.

Such cool vibe at the outside terrace. Very subtle music so you can keep conversation going without too much trouble. Food was good: moist fish, good salad, a lot of fries as a side.
Lovely place so do visit if you’re around.

On the beach at the Avila pier (closed) so atmosphere/location is the draw here
Food was average but the prices were reflective, so pretty affordable for a central coast restaurant on the water. I had the lobster roll sandwich. Not gamey. Didn’t taste like it was caught yesterday but pretty good. Old Bay seasoned fries were cooked perfectly. Wife had ceviche and a salad. Both were ok. You’ll spend 50 to 100 bucks in for two without alcohol. Given the spot that’s reasonable in late 2024. Stop by if you’re hungry and want to hear the seagulls and waves crashing against the pier.

My lobster roll was $30 and completely inedible. It was truly so terrible that I had to throw it away… that’s really telling in this economy. It was slathered in multiple sauces and the meat was imitation. It was so off putting considering the fact that I had to pay extra for the 10 french fries on the side which were the only thing I was able to consume. Would not recommend eating here. Friend ordered the burger and she was displeased by the secret sauce… she also paid extra for fries to come along with it.

Cool place. If I wasn’t 8m pregnant I’d love to be able to review their cocktails.

Food was alright. Husband enjoyed his calamari and chips. Said it was mostly due to the dipping sauces.
Western Burger needed help. Wasn’t worth the $19 IMO. Under seasoned and chewy bacon.

Plate sizes were decent. Lots of fries as a side.
Some tables and chairs outside. Inside is high tops and bar stools. Music. Cool vibe. Friendly staff.

THE RIBS, the main reason I want to write this review is just say how absolutely magnificent the ribs are, not only are they perfectly cooked and seasoned, but there so much meat on the bone perfect rib! The clam chowder is really good too if you like a perfect rich flavor. Also the atmosphere is amazing and people are too, I highly recommend come here!
