I recently visited Merle’s BBQ on December 14, 2025, opting for a take-out order. Parking was quite easy to find in the gravel lot outside. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted at the counter by the host. The overall ambience of Merle’s leans heavily into country nostalgia, featuring a mix of tables and booths. For an older building, everything I could see appeared quite clean. The hostess who took my order was notably friendly and attentive throughout my brief visit.
My order consisted of two Chopped Pork Plates and two fried pies, totaling around $32. The food quality was excellent; everything was fresh and hot, and the taste was great. Although I did not dine in or visit the restrooms, my experience with the staff and the food left me with no complaints. Based on this visit, I would definitely return to Merle’s BBQ in the future.

Hickory potato was the most disappointing thing I’ve ever ordered. Was a small microwave style potato with cut up chicken tender skin scattered on it. Waited 45 minutes for this

I got a to go order as I have for many years at Merles. I ordered a 1/2 lb. of pork/bbq, fries, a quart of slaw, and a quart of brunswick stew. The brunswick stew was super greasy with very dark pieces of chopped pork. I simply cannot believe that they sold this! When I called, I was told that it had been in the steamer all day (now 7:30 PM), and they didn’t know it was like that. They would only give me a credit for something else, no refund… I will never be back, ever… You serve a loyal customer something that is not fit to eat, hide it in a cup in a bag, and then tell me no refund. When I tried to explain this, she said, “You can come back and get fresh stew. We just took it out.” I know there are people that try to get everything free, but for me, it’s the principle… You lost my trust tonight and I hope my $16 for the stew was worth it.

Best brisket I have ever had, seriously. I went there with my daughter because she wanted wings and this was recommended by someone we were visiting out that way. Wings were great, good fried pickles and the brisket, oh so good.

I heard good things about this place, Was excited when I walked into an old tiny restaurant and that’s when it fell apart. From the steps not being in code to torn seating and dirty tables. My family and I waited well over the course of 30 minutes for the driest and I mean the driest food I have ever ate. It is a great business idea to charge for refills and ranch with food this dry. I warn all who dare to enter. If paying $75 for a family of four to eat buckets of sand is your idea of a great time this may be your ideal establishment. It is possible I may become vegan.

This is my go to place for a really good burger. I got the big daddy which is a huge Burger. I also have their hot dogs which are very good. They do have indoor and outdoor seating which is really nice because it’s next to the road and you can sit and watch the cars pass as you’re eating dinner and talking. I did not give it all five stars cuz I even I figure most of those are fake. But the service and atmosphere is excellent. Here as of lately my wife and I have been going there for Sunday dinners. I used to eat places like cheeseburger Bobby’s until they changed whatever meet they were using and also started selling fake meat burgers. I’m not saying they go hand-in-hand I’m just saying at the same time that this happened their food got terrible. But here you can see that it’s real meat. Every chance I get I take somebody with us for dinner or lunch so they can experience it as well

I have ordered from here several times, and my wife and I love their food. My wife always gets their brisket! The brisket has always come in nice slices as you can see by other peoples reviews. Tonight when I opened up the plate I thought I was given the wrong thing. When I took it inside they told me that it was the brisket, and that it is just so tender and hot that it’s falling apart. It has never looked like this before for us, and based on other people’s reviews with pictures, it hasn’t for them either. It literally looks like they had what was left in a pan, and took a ladle to it, grease and all! It is all shredded pieces swimming in grease! Also, I don’t recommend asking for fries for both of your sides! It appears tonight that they decided to give me the same amount that I get for a single order and just spread it between the two spaces. Usually I get fries and something else, but tonight we went with double fries..won’t make that mistake again. Had this been our first time there I wouldn’t know any better, but this is definitely not how it normally is served! It is also not nearly as much as they give normally for the price you pay..after driving the swimming pool of grease you can see what was left.

Me and my wife just left Merls BBQ, we pulled up to window, I ordered BBQ salad, she decided to try big burger, young girl told us whe the car in front of us left to pull up. We sat there1 hour, and nobody brought nothing to us. So, I decided to back up to the window and see if our order was ready, the girl ask me if I ordered so and so, and I had to tell her my order. She made excuses but the truth is she forgot that me and my wife was there. So, they rushed to hurry up, and just threw it all together, instead of a real BBQ salad like the last one I got, with cheese, and tomatoes and all the extras, it was lettuce and dried BBQ. MY wife’s big burger was a mess, where they just threw it together. So angry, and I tip the waitress before I pulled up. Poor service, horrible food, I’ll never go back and I would absolutely not recommend eating there at all.
