Our first visit, the Saturday after Christmas. Small store across from Constitution Square.
Plenty of workers to assist customers, a rarity nowadays. Clean store, benches for resting spouses. Friendly and helpful staff, and plenty of choices for breads, cookies, and pastries. Plus, the prices are reasonable!
We recommend and will be back on our next visit to Danville.

I placed an order for a dozen cupcakes for my dad’s birthday. Picked these up.. they look nothing like the ones in the case so beware. The woman on the phone wasn’t very helpful and seemed like she was ready to get off the phone asap. Looks like I’ll be going to the grocery and finding things to “pretty” these up… hope they taste better than Kroger at least. Burke’s use to be the best around. Not sure what’s happened.

We stopped by when in Danville on a Saturday late afternoon. They were busy but service was quick. We got a couple of donuts to go with our coffee that afternoon and the next morning. The donuts were reasonably priced and tasted wonderful with our coffee. I would definitely shop here again if in the area.

I think this is my new favorite. I moved to my current city approximately a year ago. I haven’t been able to find a bakery like I had back home until Burke’s Bakery. Their cakes and pastries are delicious. I recommend them to everyone-maybe not diabetics.

This is the best bakery ever! I am not just saying that, because I grew up there. The sweets are amazing, as is the chicken, tuna and other salads. My favorites, for which I will always come here are the gingerbread men. The glazed, chocolate, cinnamon, and jelly-filled doughnuts are also excellent! You cannot go wrong here, the service is excellent and friendly and it is extremely clean and well-managed. They even have soft drinks and an ATM.

It’s hard to find a decent bakery, especially in small town America, but Burke’s Bakery puts that all to rest. I have a friend in Louisville who asks me to buy them Burke’s rolls and another in Georgia who asks for gingerbread men every time I come to Danville — that’s how good this place is. Dig the pictures and you’ll see.
One word of warning: Cash is king at Burke’s. They have an ATM inside, but you’ll pay a fee.

This is my favorite bakery. My family has gone here since I was a kid and bought several Birthday cakes from Burke’s. It is hard to pick a favorite item here and we normally leave with a variety of cookies and pastries. My favorites are their yeast rolls and the gingerbread men. I always pick up a few gingerbread men to eat. They seal them in a very deep bag so they cannot run away before being eaten. See my last one still captured. Smile at me all you want mister gingerbread man, it will not change your fate! Yummy!
