Stop your journey, you must—because bold flavor and balance in the Force, this kitchen has mastered.

At The Karibbean Jamaican and Haitian Restaurant, the Jerk Chicken follows the spicy path with confidence. Heat it had—real heat—but layered with deep, smoky flavor. Fall-off-the-bone tender it was, served with a generous portion of rice and beans and a crisp slaw that brought welcome balance to the fire.

Strong in inclusivity, this menu is. A nice selection of vegan and vegetarian options makes it easy for every traveler at the table to find their way. Friendly staff, hearty portions, and food that leaves you satisfied and restored—return again, you will.

The Karibbean Restaurant is a wonderful find — the food is cozy, flavorful, and full of authentic Caribbean character. Besides the Jerk chicken and the Oxtail. They also offer great vegetarian options, including tofu and Beyond Meat. The staff is genuinely friendly. Overall, a delicious and welcoming spot that’s definitely worth a visit if u pass by Lebanon.

The Karibbean is why the Upper Valley is special. Coming home from an appt. at the hospital with some extra time, I thought I would try something different. My first time eating Haitian food. Can’t tell you what I had. I left it all up to the owner, Colleen. It was opening time, no one else in the restaurant, so I had concierge treatment Colleen sampled a bit of everything into a huge take-out, half-spicy/half-non-spicy, she said. I chose chicken as the meat …not yet ready to experiment with goat. Each of 4 chicken thighs prepared a different way, with spicy slaw and rice with black mushrooms. I tore into it, eating all I could. The 2 spicy chicken selections were like nothing I had tasked –awesome! The rice was the perfect base for the meal. And the slaw …the spicy slaw …to die for. If this is Haitian food, I’m in again and again. The meal was big enough for two meals. I took the remainder hope for dinner …and it was just as good.

Colleen has a boutique of Haitian crafts adjacent to restaurant, where all things Haitian are sold, including some of the art that adorns the walls. Sweet place to visit after a meal. Lunch with Colleen and her mother, Coutrille, was a delight. Reminded me what a special place the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River is, both sides of the river. An easy 5-stars for the Karibbean!

Food was five stars, service was 6. I had the Creole Chicken that was fantastic. Side of dirty rice which was very flavorful. Also beet salad which balanced everything out. My wife is gluten intolerant and they were helpful with that. Both desserts had gluten so the lady brought us some handmade dessert she had made and then her husband made us sliced strawberries with caramel. It was Valentine’s night and they just gave those to us to be nice. I highly recommend this place.

I didn’t get a chance to try their pattys but they also looked great and reminded me of all the pate I ate on St John. Great authentic food.

First time trying it! We got the chickpea avocado salad, creole chicken, rice and beans, fried plantains & spicy slaw, and beef and chicken patties. The chicken was very juicy and tender, the chickpea salad was great and tasted fresh, but we didn’t like the plantains as much because they were a bit dry and needed some sauce to accompany it. We liked empanadas, especially the beef ones. Overall, we think it would be better if we dined in person as the plantains would have been more fresh out of the kitchen, but we still liked still it. Prices are good but smaller portions so not many leftovers. Definitely want to come back and try other dishes at some point!

The food was beyond amazing. The meal combinations and variety is very nice, robust authentic flavors! Everything was cooked PERFECTLY. Veggies were the perfect texture, not over or underdone. The steamed fish had so much flavor, tender, flakey and melted when combined with the coconut milk sauce. The chef even brought me two sweat plantains to add to my plate. The service was amazing!!

We liked the food so much that we had dinner here twice during our 3 day lead peeping trip. The food has so much flavor and it is well seasoned. We tried Jerk Chicken, Chicken Creole and Curry chicken all of which were great. Do try the Chicken pumpkin soup. The hot soup hit the spot on a cold night.
