Local & Co. dishes up approachable food and transparency in dining, showcasing ingredients sourced from local & regional farmers, producers & wild food foragers. It is a true sustainable Farm to Table concept, that is housed in an early 1800’s building on one of Barbados most beautiful West Coast beaches. The Rum Bar also showcases the best rums & craft made cocktails in the golden glow of a mirrored alcove & library area. And don’t forget the Market Place for house made meals to take home, pickles, jams and baked goods, plus locally sourced artisan products.

I came with my mum and we were blown away. The setting is incredible: this antique, baroque, opulent beach restaurant vibe that somehow still feels totally relaxed. Sitting right on that beautiful stretch of sand under the trees (with the lanterns and that disco ball catching the light) is genuinely magical.
But the standout, hands down, is what Local & Co stands for. You can feel how committed they are to supporting Barbados and the wider Caribbean through food: locally sourced ingredients, real relationships with farmers and producers, seasonal creativity, and a clear “use what’s around us and do it properly” approach. It’s purposeful, thoughtful, and it shows in every single plate. The dishes are super creative and authentic, beautifully presented, and the flavours are unreal, fresh, bright, perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of food that makes you stop mid-conversation.
Service was also brilliant: efficient, warm, and genuinely kind. Everything ran smoothly without ever feeling rushed. And the music was such a vibe too, the playlist just made the whole atmosphere even better.
If you’re in Barbados, go. Local & Co is a 10/10 and it deserves all the praise for what it’s building, not just what it’s serving.
All three courses were absolutely delicious, and the evening ended with a dessert featuring a lovely personalised message, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also highly recommend the rum punch.. a definite highlight of the evening!
A special thank you to Shanice as well for helping to arrange everything so seamlessly. It made the celebration truly memorable.
A huge shoutout to Mckele, Shareece and Marlon for their exceptional service. They were welcoming and truly made the evening feel special. Marlon made sure everything flowed perfectly throughout the night.
We started with the beetroot cured king fish and the spicy beef tartare, both were absolutely delicious. In fact, they were so good that we immediately ordered a second round of starters! That alone says it all.
For our mains, I had the creole spiced lobster tail and my partner chose the skillet free range chicken. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. While the lobster itself was fantastic, the breadfruit coucou that accompanied it wasn’t quite to my personal taste but everything else on the plate was excellent.
For dessert, we both had the sea salt caramel rum tart with banana ice cream and it was the perfect sweet ending to the night. The cocktails were also well made and complemented the meal nicely.
Before heading home, we stopped by The Commons Social Club and the vibe there was amazing, stylish and a great way to wrap up the evening. Another shoutout to Mckele for holding it down and keeping the energy just right.
Overall, it was a memorable Valentine’s celebration and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
The food was so amazing, I had the Chiken burger, while my mother and Nan chiken curry which they said was the best food they had ate so far on the island.
The music was also really nice and the view was perfect!
People might think it’s a bit pricey but I think you absolutely get what you pay for and it was worth every penny. We weren’t rushed off our table either we stayed way over our booking time thanks to the staff. Would recommend and will definitely return. 10x better than fishpot.
