Nestled at 1999 Coolidge Highway in Berkeley, Michigan, Republica stands out not just for its culinary offerings but also for its vibrant atmosphere that embraces the spirit of the local community, particularly hockey enthusiasts. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a friendly warmth that envelops you, thanks in no small part to the inviting decor that proudly showcases a hockey-themed vibe. The walls, adorned with memorabilia, evoke a nostalgic sense of camaraderie, making it a perfect gathering spot for friends and family alike.

The heart and soul of Republica, Lexi, the owner, is a remarkable host who exudes passion for her establishment and her patrons. Her welcoming demeanor sets the tone for an enjoyable dining experience, where you feel like part of a larger community rather than just another customer.

During my visit, I was fortunate to have Hailey as our waitress whose service was impeccably attentive and genuinely friendly. She took the time to ensure that all of our needs were met and that our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Her recommendations added a personal touch that made our meal even more enjoyable.

As for the food, I opted for the Fish and Chips, which was a revelation. The dish arrived beautifully presented and lived up to its reputation. Each piece of fish was not only crispy but also fresh, clearly reflecting the kitchen’s dedication to quality. The light, golden batter ensured that the fish was perfectly cooked and flaky on the inside. Accompanying the dish was coleslaw that was bursting with flavor – the perfect crunchy counterpart to the fish. The tartar sauce, too, was noteworthy; its rich, creamy texture complemented the fish beautifully, elevating the meal to new heights.

In conclusion, Republica in Berkeley is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of community, flavor, and the joy of dining together. With delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and attentive service from a passionate team, it’s no wonder that I look forward to my next visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a meal in a fun and welcoming environment.

Republica has been one of my favorite spots in Berkley for years. From the quality of food to the phenomenal service, to the chefs creations, it is all top notch. Their patio in the summer is the perfect place to enjoy a margarita and in the cooler months inside has a cozy bar. If you have anyone with gluten sensitivities in your group this is the best spot for gluten free options and a dedicated GF frier. I tried the matcha margarita today and am already looking forward to my next one!

First time eating here Dec 6th and I knew the second we walked in it would be great! The ambiance at Republica is delightful! Artsy, small, intimate and cozy with all sorts of collectibles and art adorning the walls. Our server, Sara, (hope I spelled her name correctly!) came tour table and was warm, friendly and full of personality. All of our questions were answered with a smile, energy and professionalism. We ordered beverages, I had root beer which was delicious, the others had drinks. We started with the Wild Mushroom flatbread which was delicious! I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and spaghetti squash, the squash was the best I’ve ever eaten! The chicken was good but the squash stole the show. I also ordered the Tomato Fennel soup which while tasty, was way over salted (hence 4 stars on food). My husband ordered the Smyrna Spiced Meatballs which I believe was the best dish of any of us. I tried one and they were to die for! My SIL had the Julia which she liked and my brother in law had a burger which he enjoyed. The portions are generous! My husband wished they offered dessert, which they do not. Once again our server, Sara was a complete delight! Prices are comparable to other restaurants and worth every penny! I will definitely return!

Really nice spot. My husband and I went here on a date and we sat outside on the front patio. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. The inside had good modern vibes and the music was great.

Our food came out hot and quick, especially for a Saturday evening. We had the Plato potatoes and spicy goat cheese crostini to start. Both were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Some of the best fries I’ve ever had.

For our mains, I had the republica chopped salad with chicken – the dates and walnuts paired with goat cheese were super tasty. Next time I order this I think I’ll ask for no corn, it didn’t seem to go with for my pallet. My husband had the village burger. We try bites of each other’s meals when we go out and it was absolutely delicious. If you like lamb this is a must.

The only thing not pictured is the coffee, which might just be my new favorite. I ordered a cup and our waitress brought it out in a stainless steel French press. I may have to get one of these for myself. The coffee was brewed to perfection, so smooth, not cheap tasting like you’d normally get at a restaurant, and best of all, it stayed hot in that French press. I purchased a bag of the coffee on my way out.

There’s only one reason I’m giving four stars; because of the outdoor atmosphere being along the busy street. Adding some tall plants or trees against the fence would make a big difference. Although that’s not to say we won’t be back and sit outside. It was still lovely with the string lights. This is a great spot for a date, meeting up with friends, coming as a family, or even a solo lunch or dinner. We’ll definitely be back.

This restaurant was amazing. The dishes alluding to Greek culture were outstanding. The service was amazing. I had the beet burger and my husband had the warm farro salad. We took my 5 year old gluten free granddaughter there and she had no issues, 5 stars hands down

The food is very top tier meaning it is not coming from a corporate kitchen. Everything they use is fresh. Made to order ingredients sourced from the state of Michigan. Everything from a starter to a main course to their cocktails. The whole staff and Miss Lexi are outstanding. My first experience there now will be for for forever experience. The food was so good. My first time coming in I came in the next day. This woman and the whole team outdo themselves. If you like real good food. Do not cheat yourself. Treat yourself.

We ventured to Republica since it was within walking distance of our home. We had never been before and we were excited to see so many Gluten Free options on the menu.

The location was cute with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside at a table that was surrounded by Hockey memorabilia. It was a cute corner of the restaurant.

We started with the Tomato Burrata Flatbread shareable. It was great and a good way to start the meal. For being a cauliflower based flatbread, it was still crispy crust with that perfect pairing of tomatoes and burrata. For our main meal, we each ordered a salad. I went for the small Mitch’s Salad and it was nothing special. I didn’t add any extra protein and probably should have. While our main was nothing that would drive us to return to this location, the starter and the fact that we could walk here does encourage us to return and give some of The Main Dishes or Handhelds a chance next time. I wouldn’t return for just the salad options.
