The tacos al pastor are the main event at Chunga’s, and for good reason. Pork, pineapple and some greenery make for a very satisfying, non-greasy meal. All kinds of fun ingredients dot the menu, including a few vegetarian options like cactus, mushroom and flor de calabaza (google that last one since translation is hard to find). If you want something a little more authentic, try the alambre, a dish that’s a bunch of normal Mexican ingredients mixed together in a tasty mess. Cool the spiciness off with a papaya shake. Out of this world customer service! The gentleman with the security hat who was working the front was exception really out of this world with the service and managing the traffic.
Ample parking in the back and the food was so great.
The chips were especially awesome the different sauces 4 different ones and great guacamole impressed me.
The quesadillas were great as well. The grape soda drink wasn’t awesome I think it was less mainstream.

Sooo happy Chungas has opened another location. This place is so good. I think they have the best Al Pastor in the state, hands down!
Their Al Pastor burrito smothered in green sauce is my go to. Their nachos though are way good as are their tacos and quesadillas.
If you haven’t tried this place, give it a try. Very authentic, delicious Mexican food.

Chunga’s has two locations. We went to the location on redwood. They didn’t have a lot of seating so we decided to take our meal to go.
We read reviews that recommended ordering over the phone instead of online. So that is what we did and it was great! They had our meal ready for us right on time!
We actually loved the prices. For a meal with two tacos, rice, beans and a drink it was $8. Very affordable!

We didn’t love our food. We might have ordered at the wrong location, or come on a bad day but we felt the meat was dry, and the rice and beans were just okay. We were a little underwhelmed by our experience.

Delicious, clean, and friendly. This is one of the gems in Salt Lake City. Authentic Mexican Food, this restaurant serves, the Famous “Taco al Pastor” seasoned pork meat like no other, their burritos, huaraches, pambazos, gorditas, tacos and all other food is made just like it would be in Mexico City. Their chipotle salsa is one of the best I have tasted. You cant go wrong coming to this restaurant, their waitresses and servers are friendly and willing to make sure you have a great experience. I love that the have the playing traditional music that makes you feel like you are dining in a restaurant in el Zocalo, or near Tepito. Prices are very affordable, and if you show the picture of the card you get your first meal for only $6.00 dlls. Go experience the real Mexican taste of “Chungas”
