My husband and I went here for dinner and we both got the fish and chips. Honestly we should have shared it the portions were more than generous. Neither of us cared for the coleslaw at all and the fries were ok but neither of them were the star of the show. The fish portion was huge and it was done perfectly, flaky and not dry.
My husband had the Boston Clam Chowder (New England, white, thick loaded with clams and potatoes) I had the seafood chowder, that was so good, I want to go back and just have a big bowl of that.
We both agree that it was a good price for what we got. Not over priced at all, it was worth every penny.

You dont need to go anywhere else in New England to get the best seafood. Jimmys is the best. Sometimes the wait to order is 45 mins in the peak summer times but well worth the wait. I go there at least 5-10 times a year! Also they perfer cash, and bring plenty. Great fresh seafood is not cheap. If you want cheap go to Red Lobster.

Haven’t been here in ages, and it was so good to get back! We both ordered the NE sampler (cup of chowder (we chose Boston), 3 clam cakes, and a stuffie), and he got the fish and chips. FIRST of all, it was the biggest portion of fish and chips I’ve ever seen it literally hung out the side of the box. The notorious clam cakes were delicious as always, but it looks like they trimmed back the size a little – not a complaint, just an observation, and of course, the chowder was solid. Can’t wait to return and try more of the menu! (I would absolutely suggest checking out their menu before you get there – it’s extensive and makes decisions very difficult )

GLUTEN FREE! not everything but they have numerous menu items. The stand in line is worth the wait for the amazing food . He makes it all. Family oriented business. Sit inside in the air conditioning after you get your food. Or sit outside and people watch the Block Island ferry, there’s a bar outside and sometimes some afternoon music.

This is a solid place to score some seafood. I can’t attest to the lines, we came in the off season. We came by after combing the beach because I was craving some steamers. I was happy to see they had gluten free fried food as well. I ordered fried scallops. They were plentiful, juicy, sweet, just delicious. The only deterrent was a few were a little sandy. The fries and coleslaw were decent. The steamers were sand free and super fresh tasting. It is a bit pricey, but I’ll definitely be back soon.

If Heaven has Whole Belly Clams and Lobster Rolls, they got them here at Jimmy’s Port Side. Starting with the WBC’s, they’re simply not enough superlatives in the English language to throw at these beauties. I’ve eaten WBC’s at every clam shack from Ct to Maine, including Ipswich MA and these are hands down the best I’ve had period. First off they were huge, succulent perfectly fried, not greasy and delicious. The portion was huge and every clam had a huge belly attached, not some of them, all of them. I actually bought them as a back up in case my Lobster salad was a bust and that was not the case. The Lobster Salad was again one of, if not the best, cold Lobster Salad roll I have ever had and I would challenge anyone to find one better. Huge chunks of lobster meat, not shredded like some local tourist ripoff places do. No red onion, a touch of celery, some dill or parsley and a lite amount of mayo….a perfect concoction to be able to really taste the lobster, oh yeh and btw, no lettuce!!, like so many other places add at the bottom so that it looks like you are getting a lot of lobster. The lobster was jam packed into the lightly toasted hot dog style(but larger) bun. I could barely finish it after the WBC’s. Now for those who might think that $105.00 for two lobster rolls and a side of Whole Belly Clams is “expensive”, well it isn’t if the quality & quantity match and this most definitely matched the price point, so no complaints. Paying first, I will say I was taken back by the total charge & said to myself; “this better be the best I’ve ever had”for that price….and it was. Just Outstanding

This is one of those places I definitely had my doubts about walking up to because it’s right by the ferry and I sort of figured it would be mid–but MAN was I wrong! I got the shrimp scampi bc I wasn’t much in the mood for fried and it was absolutely amazing, like definitely better than almost any other scampi I’ve had. The sauce had a delicious and fresh taste and the shrimp were HUGE and plentiful (I ate like 3 of them before thinking to take the picture). I think it was $22 for the small but I definitely made two meals out of it. Also got a side of onion rings and they were fantastic. The batter is light and crisp and doesn’t have that overly fried heavy oily taste whatsoever. Not only do I recommend this place but I will absolutely be back. Worth the wait in the long line. Oh, also important to note that they are CASH ONLY! They do have an ATM but know that BEFORE you get in the long line.

Jimmys Portside is our Number #1 place to go for freshest, tastiest seafood around. We go several times a season and it never disappoints. Today we had the their famous Lobster Bisque it is without a doubt the best I’ve ever had . I had the Cod fish n chips. It was an enormous portion and was delicious. My wife had the spaghetti with white clam sauce. It was also delicious. We’ve had many other items in the menu but today these were our choices. It can get rather busy at prime times on the weekend but it is so worth the wait. I never hesitate to recommend Jimmys to anyone looking for great seafood .

Jimmy’s Port Side Restaurant is a great place to pass the time while waiting for the ferry. I ordered the New England clam chowder and the whole-belly clam roll. The food was served quickly, fresh, hot, and delicious!
