Now to the sack of coal, also known as a burger. $17 for a burger and fries, it better be good. My friend got the Apple something Burger and I got the Melt. The only thing melting was my excitement Both burgers were dry, overcooked with 25% more bread than burger. Yes, beef shrinks however this shrinkage spoke to patties not cooked to order. We really wanted to love it, especially as he drove 1.5hrs to get there. However, it was very unimpressive, unexciting, and under whelming.
The hostess was setting up another table and asked if we’ve been served. We had not. She said our server probably forgot but she would remind her.
Within 45 seconds Molly showed up. She apologized. We asked her how her day has been going and she was shocked that we asked. She got us our drinks and gave us excellent suggestions on drinks and food.
Apps came out before the alcohol and we were very surprised that they came out so fast. All of the food was out super fast. The food was REALLY amazing! Chicken was moist and tender with great flavoring. I’m not a tomato fan, but cooked perfect. Loved all the food. Dessert was hot and delicious. Love the atmosphere and decor.
Highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back.
School Retirees Lunch Group and had lunch here recently. The food and atmosphere are excellent. The wait person was so accommodating. You should try this quaint place.
Our group of 4 came in around 8 pm on Saturday night. We got seated quickly and that was the best part of the entire experience.
Drink Order – One ordered white wine, no problem. Someone else tried to order a mule, no ginger beer, it happens. She ordered a cocktail off the menu, which did not come with the garnish as described. Another ordered coffee, they “can’t” do it because the server can’t ring it in, but we could if we went to the bar. Doesn’t make much sense but that is the explanation we were given. Tried to order a Paper Plane cocktail since no coffee, no aperol in the place. Then decided to order a bees knees, but with bourbon. Well the drink came and they made it with gin. Fine, at this point just stick with water. Last, ordered a bourbon and ginger ale. Confirmed house bourbon and the server repeated back to me, remember this for later.
Food – We started with the Bruschetta bites. 2 out of the 4 mozzarella sticks exploded and had no cheese in them. This was basically mozzarella sticks on top of lettuce, diced tomatoes and some balsamic, with a bit of the mustard sauce. One of us ordered the flounder dish, this was good. One ordered the fried green tomato BLT, with a side of grits. Sandwich was dry, had to ask for some sort of sauce to put on it. Side of grits, described as having tomato pepper stew, had nothing on them, but needed it. Another ordered the chicken fried steak, half was warm, Mac and cheese was Kraft quality. Last one ordered the Southwestern burger. There were 3 tiny pieces of crispy onion which looked to be the French’s stuff you can buy at Food Lion, and a dime size portion of the aioli. The burger was so dry it crumbled apart. One bite and quit it was so bad. The server said he let the manager know and she might take it off the bill since I didn’t like it….
Leaving – We asked for a manager to come over due to the amount of issues. When she came over she could not care less about how bad the experience was, but did emphasize that she took the bees knees (they used the wrong liquor) and the burger (we’ve had better fast food burgers) off the bill. When reviewing the bill, I was charged for 1792 bourbon at $11 per drink, which seemed high for a house bourbon. I walked up to the bar and asked a bartender what their house bourbon was, it’s Jim Beam and is $6. This may have seemed like an innocent mistake until we took into account the whole experience. Had to flag the server back down and explain that this was also wrong.
The interior and vibe is so cool at this place and we want it to be great but a clear lack of care from the kitchen and management will prevent it from being more successful. Spend your money somewhere else.
