This place is a joke. $25 for a very basic takeout meal. The flavor is bland and the menu is confusing. The actual restaurant is closed, but you won’t know that until you arrive to pick up your order. Hadn’t tried this place in years and certainly won’t again.

Save your money. Hands down the worst food I’ve had in Clayton in the past five years. Absolutely zero flavor, overly salty egg rolls, and a very sorry excuse for a crab rangoon.
To make matters worse, the guy who took my order over the phone was rude and acted like I was inconveniencing him just by calling in an order. We spent over $55 for two people, and it was easily the worst takeout decision we’ve made.

The inside of the restaurant actually looked very nice, but on a Friday night at 8:30 there was only one table occupied—which says a lot. I’m not trying to put the restaurant down, but with food quality like this, it’s clearly a dying business.

Do yourself a favor and trust this review—find somewhere else to eat. Disgusting.

Overall Rating: 6.1/10
This local Chinese restaurant embraces a traditional atmosphere and offers a robust menu that caters to takeout with dishes freshly prepared to order.

Atmosphere: 5.7/10
The setting is reminiscent of a typical family-owned Chinese restaurant, with decor that reflects Chinese cultural elements, offering both a cozy dine-in experience and efficient takeout service.

Service: 5.7/10
Service was competent, handling takeout orders with a broad menu selection. While food preparation took a bit longer, the freshness of the meals served to enhance the overall dining experience, indicating dishes made to order.

General Tso’s Chicken: 8.1/10
An excellent rendition of General Tso’s chicken, featuring white meat that’s extra crispy and saucy with a delightful spicy kick. Accompanied by the classic broccoli, peppers, and onions, it delivers a robust and satisfying crunch.

Pork Fried Rice: 7.1/10
This dish stands out with its well-cooked rice and well-seasoned pork, mixed with all the expected ingredients, providing a fulfilling and flavorful side.

Egg Rolls: 7.9/10
Exceptionally crunchy and fresh, these egg rolls break from the norm by focusing on fresh veggies rather than cabbage, contributing to their standout taste.

Value: 6.1/10
Pricing is reasonable, reflecting the high quality and excellent taste of the food. This restaurant offers good value for money, particularly given the quality of the ingredients and preparation.

Definitely overpriced for what you get. I spent $70 on a couple dinner entrees, eggs rolls and crab rangoon. Low quality all around. The General Tso’s chicken just wasn’t General Tso’s chicken. It’s relatively flavorless and very different from. what you’ll get at most spots. The sauce is very watery and didn’t coat the chicken. Sweet and sour chicken was stale. And the beef egg rolls that cost like $4 a piece had no beef in them. Will not be eating here again.

This is without doubt the best Cantonese I have had in two full years. Our full lineup is as follows,
Wonton soup, egg drop soup, ranch salad.
Mongolian beef, orange chicken, honey Walnut Chicken with white and fried rice.

The warm reception from the waiter was kind and refreshing. He chatted and allowed us newer folks in on some hidden gems around town. He also gave word of Kobi- their sushi restaurant nearby that we will be visiting.

The food was delicious and unparalleled. I will be frequenting this location to try their wide variety often.

Thank you!

I’ve been coming to Yi Ge since they opened. The owner and staff are wonderful. So many choices! The lunch menu is a good value. The dinner menu has a larger portion that comes with the choice of soup or salad.

Very authentic Cantonese cuisine! Quite a gem in the middle of Clayton of all places. I highly recommend the Beef Ho Fun and the roast duck. Couldnt get pictures of the food because it was devoured as the dishes hit the table. Seriously, eat here! Highly recommend!

Menu recommendations: beef chow ho fun (dry)
Bbq platter (duck/crispy pork/roast pork)
Salt and pepper pork chops

Update: still awesome

Authentic Cantonese food. The roast duck is so alike the ones I had back in hometown Guangdong, China. The skin is crispy and the meat tastes great. And the beef noodles Gan Chao Niu He is the best I ever had in NC, it has Wok Hea锅气. Roast pork is ok for me, a little bit sweet, and black pepper beef is good. The vegetable is cooked as the same way as I always do, love it.

We sporadically order from Yi Ge and am a big fan of their fried rice and noodles items. We ordered today and picked up from Kobe across the street (they are closed for the holidays) and i am sad to say that this was some of the worst chinese i have ever had.
The egg drop soup was a salty mess, the orange chicken tasted like cardboard and the shrimp udon was also salty and not something that should be served here. I hope its temporary/ new staff but this sort of quality is unacceptable for $64 worth of food.
