This food sent me into a food coma. I literally did not take any left overs because I licked my plate clean.
For drinks, we got the Blue Ocean and Cranverry Mojito. They were so good and got the perfect buzz going for the meal.
I ordered their A5 Wagyu steak. It reminded me of my time in Tokyo. My fiance ordered the teriyaki chicken. It was so so so so good. Literally melt in your mouth good.
But just course by course they absolutely killed it. The salad, miso soup, chicken fried rice and
Upon being seated, we were greeted by a friendly server who took care of us and made sure everyone was informed about the menu. She was quick to get drink orders, and we waited for our chef to come to our table.
Our chef seemed tired (understandable) but still did his best to entertain us — the food was excellent, especially the Wagyu steak. He didn’t talk nearly as much or bring as much energy as surrounding tables’ chefs, which was a big letdown, considering the price tag for a party of 5 to dine. But, given the holiday circumstances, our family still had a great experience. Another huge shout out to our server who was extremely hard-working, and even got a framed picture for our family. I wish I could remember her name!
Thank you, Benihana!
First, we had reservations and were actually fairly early, about 45 minutes ahead of our time. Instead of checking us in, we were told to leave and come back. When we returned, we checked in about 10 minutes before our reservation time, and still waited 45 minutes past that. When we finally sat down at our table, the first thing I noticed was several spots where something had dripped and baked on to the grill, apparently from the fume hood. Three spots were several inches in diameter and clearly got there after the grill had been cleaned. There was missed food still on the grill and front apron, and the insulation was coming out from under the front of the grill. There was an area on the back of the grill that was clearly dirty as well. I asked the server if the chef would clean it before they began, and she assured me they would. When our chef came out, he greeted us and then put oil on the grill to begin, without any attempt to clean the spots (probably 2″ in diameter, so very clearly visible) or the back of the grill. We stopped him and asked him to please clean the grill, which he did. He then proceeded to make our meal.
Most things were done correctly and tasted great, but there were egg shells in the fried rice, and one in our party had ordered her steak medium rare, but when it was placed on her plate it was clearly seared but still blue and raw. When it was suggested that she check to make sure it was done to her liking, she asked for it to be put back on the grill, which it was, but then replaced on the same plate, where it had been while still raw.
I raised concerns, away from the table, to the assistant manager. I showed him some pictures I had taken, even after the table was “cleaned” in front of us, and he mentioned that one of the pictures showed residual cleaning chemical in the bend of the grill. I specifically told him I did not want to make a big deal out of these issues at the table. He followed me to the table and took a look at the issues I had raised. He then apparently mentioned it to another manager who promptly came over and made the big deal out of it that I had been trying to avoid.
It will be quite a while before we will patronize this restaurant again, which is really disappointing, as it used to be one of our favorites.
I was the fifth wheel on this evening so the guy made me my own date which was the best part of the night. (Pic attached).
I just think you expect a little more from this destination
