Resturant and bar located inside DeSoto hotel. Where able to get a table upon arriving. Waitress was very helpful. We ordered a couple beers a hamburger and a pulled pork sandwich. The atmosphere was interesting with lots of history. The waitress told us alot of the hotels history. Not real busy on a Saturday afternoon. The food arrived quickly. The presentation was good. The fries where oven cooked and not greasy. The fries had a typical taste. The burger where just ok the pulled pork had potential but was just pulled pork roast without any flavor. Not much flavor the bacon was the highlight. We where disappointed as we expected fresh flavorful beefy burge. Alittle better then fast food. We walked around the hotel which was interesting. Overall I would not choose this resturant again. It was just ok with prices reflecting a better culinary experience. Waitress was very good.

This gem is inside the Desoto House Hotel and is located on the ground in a beautiful open courtyard surrounded by New Orleans like balconies. The food stands out because of the variety and quality. The service is spot on and attentive. If you stay at the hotel and reserve the breakfast package it’s a real bargain because breakfast is the included as well as two drink tickets for the Green Street bar and restaurant, also located in the hotel. Plus, there is a 5 star restaurant called the General in the hotel. The hotel is right downtown in Galena and very historic.

Waitress was absolutely amazing! This cute tavern was nestled in a beautiful historic hotel. The food was good. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was that the sweet potato fries were almost cold when they got to us and kind of chewy. The sandwich was good. My Gin & Tonic was good as well.

Drinks were the highlight—everything else was just fine.

We visited Green Street Tavern and while we appreciated the dog-friendly patio (thanks for the water bowl!), the space itself wasn’t especially charming—more functional than cozy, with a railing that blocked the view but offered some privacy.

The Hudson cocktail with fig vodka was a pleasant surprise—bright, smooth, and flavorful. The wine also had a nice pear finish.

As for the food, the Reuben with onion rings and chicken bacon ranch flatbread were serviceable but underwhelming—not much flavor, nothing memorable.

Service was just so-so—we weren’t checked on after our food arrived, which left the experience feeling a bit flat.

Overall: Worth a stop for a cocktail, but the food and atmosphere didn’t quite deliver.

definitely old school place. the history behind the building and all the famous guest they have had is amazing. The food not the best but also not the worst. the drinks were decent. Take a walk in time and enjoy the decor.

A comfy bar and grill. Served a variety of items and a great stop for lunch. The bar was a larger size and had a good sized seating area. The food was really good. Homemade bbq sauce and coleslaw were good on the pulled pork sandwich. The fries were nice and crispy. Service was also great and attentive. All in all a great spot to grab lunch or a beer.

Took a day trip to Galena and had lunch at The DeSoto House….in the Green Steet Tavern. The Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread was amazing. My husband got their special which was beef tips in a bread bowl. He enjoyed it. Atmosphere is always amazing and the staff exceptional!!!!

Love the atmosphere here, the old feel is amazing. Was very let down by the service, been working in the restaurant industry for many years now, server not engaged much at all, sat 10 minutes before we had anyone come towards us, food was very average I got the grilled cheese and wasn’t upset about it it was a fine grilled cheese, but the Mac and cheese was truly not good at all. Very bland and just tasted not great at all. Supposed to be something there known for but was genuinely just bad. Overall wasn’t great but it is what it is !

Altogether, the dinner was fantastic. I had the brisket sandwich and my wife have the Cuban sandwich. They were really good for sure. I do however have a problem with the price of the appetizer I ordered. I saw a $22 priced bacon wrapped shrimp and thought I’d get a good 8 for the value. Sadly, it came out with 4. It looked nice, and tasted great, but c’mon. Picture included.

My wife and I stopped for lunch after a 3-hour drive. She got the fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. This hit the spot! Our server was attentive so we got in and out pretty quickly.
