The restaurant itself is small and the ambience is lacklustre but clean. When we arrived we were seated promptly and helped by a wonderful waiter who explained how everything worked to order. We got a cocktail each which came quickly. We ordered a seafood platter to share which was amazing! Although, not once did anyone check on us once getting the food – we did not see our original waiter again. Our drinks sat empty we would’ve ordered another round but no employee was helping us anymore. When we finished we had to get another servers attention and ask for a to go box cause the platter was too much for the two of us – but delicious. After sitting there for another 15 minutes I thought maybe we had to pay at the front cause once again ZERO service – after getting up and asking a different server we asked how we pay and she went and got another employee to bring us our bill. All in all food was delicious but pricey ($100 each which we found fair for the amount of seafood we received) – service was good at first and then terrible cause as mentioned we received no service (not to check on our drinks, not to ask how everything was, not to ask if we were done even though we sat there a long time, not to bring a bill etc etc etc). Not sure if we would go again because of the lack of service and if I’m paying $100 for myself for a meal service would be nice. Gave three stars for the food, service at the very beginning of our meal was great. If you plan on going go for the food and keep your expectations VERY LOW for service if you are lucky enough to get any.
– Seafood fried rice
Rice was a bit sticky, clumps together a bit, but very buttery, comes with scallops, green onion. The sauce is very rich and delicious!
– Seafood boil with crayfish, captain boil sauce, 2 sides: corn and potato.
Mildly spicy – just enough for us to have a bit of runny nose! The sauce was buttery, savoury and rich!
I recommend coming here for the experience at least once, or if you don’t want to or don’t know how to make your own seafood boils.
1. The service was average. Only one person at our table got a drink refill, and it wasn’t even verbally offered. Took a while for our order to get taken despite the place being empty. No instructions on whether to come up to pay or pay at the table.
I’ve seen people say the ladies there don’t really provide great service but I’m there to eat not make small talk so I don’t really care about being treated special – but I’d like my stuff refilled for sure.
2. The portions were insanely small, and I don’t mean the seafood – the seafood actually filled me up decently (shared a Matey’s feast with mussels and shrimp, and two snow crab boils between 4 people) but the amount of sides was sad. Corn and potatoes and eggs cost next to nothing for restaurants so for a “feast” to have one egg and one potato per bag is pretty crazy.
Also a good chunk of my crab legs were like half empty – not a lot of meat in some of those legs. But I did see them throw a few extra pieces in to make up for that so I appreciate it.
3. The food was actually delicious, the sauce was yummy – the mild was definitely spicy when it would collect in the shells. The rice is surprisingly spicy, so if you’re stomach-sensitive to spice it will hurt, but my mouth wasn’t on fire or anything.
The fries are delicious, the rice was good, the seafood was cooked decently, and the shrimp were soft and yummy. The sausage was flavourful too.
I’ll come back when I’m craving a seafood boil and don’t wanna make it myself, but this is definitely something you can make at home for less than the $200 + tip that we spent here.
Captain’s Boil is hands down one of the best seafood spots I’ve been to! The atmosphere is fun and casual, perfect for hanging out with friends or family. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were on point — especially the signature Captain’s Boil sauce, which is rich, buttery, and packed with spice.
Portion sizes were generous and definitely worth the price. Everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and messy in the best way possible. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
If you’re a seafood lover who enjoys bold flavors and a hands-on dining experience, Captain’s Boil is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Bathrooms were clean….. really nothing to complain about at all. Even the portions were substantial. Over all a great value for my money
