Me and my husband tried this place out and were very disappointed. I ordered the gueso de puerco and this is what I received I told the waitress this isn’t what was on the picture. No potatoes and she didn’t seem not one bit concerned nor did she try to make it right. The picture of the meat in red pasty sauce is nothing compared to what I thought I was getting. My tortillas were even hard. Sadly we left very disappointed for it being a place we’d pass and finally tried and it wasn’t a good experience

Hidden Gem!

From the moment Abuelo greeted and seated us, our experience was truly five-star. Authenticity like this is rare—both in the service and the food. The restaurant was spotless, the service was exceptional, and the prices were more than reasonable. Most importantly, the food was absolutely amazing!

I’ve driven past this place for nearly ten years, and I’m so glad I finally stopped in. As someone from Colorado who really appreciates authentic Mexican cuisine, I can honestly say this spot exceeded all expectations.

I went here looking for some authentic Tex Mex food and found just that. The service was great, the atmosphere was good for a small restaurant in a smaller town.

The recommendation of the “spicy’ not spicy “ chicken was spot on, I ordered a side or tortillas to go with it and it was perfect.

That top shelf margarita was hand down great! One of the best I’ve had and didn’t taste too sour or sweet. I only needed one.

My son had the hamburger and fries and for a Mexican restaurant it wasn’t too bad at all.

Service was incredibly slow! Our chips and salsa arrived a long time before our drinks and our appetizer arrived after our entrees were served. It was 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was almost empty. That should have been our first clue that something was wrong. The flauta appetizer was terrible and the puffy taco shells had a rancid taste. The only positive was the chile relleno. It was the best item we had. This was our first and last visit. We won’t be back.

Amaya’s is a must every time my daughter is home from college. We have been loving it since we moved to Lancaster in 2000. Even though you are a little further away in Red Oak we will continue to enjoy your cooking.

The food was sub-par for my standards. The chips were hard and the salsa was hot without flavor. I ordered nachos with beef. The nachos have a ton of beans and a little flavorless beef. I was disappointed in the quality of the food. The waiter was fast with the service. This location, however, isn’t for me.

As a few others reviews have said, the food was sub par. The shrimp was fishy and chewy and most likely was frozen which would explain. I had the beef chimichanga which tasted bitter. The meat had little flavor aside from the bitterness.

The rice, beans and salsa were not bad. Not sure we would will go back, as even for Tex mex the overall taste wasn’t good.

Used to love to go here. Got a to go order today and ended up sick as a dog. When first biting into my food I realized it didn’t taste right, upon further review as you can see, they do not cook their meat thoroughly at all, this is their puffy taco dinner very much with the beef not cooked all the way. We have gone here for years, but will no longer attend this place. I’m not sure what the reason is for getting lazy, but it is inexcusable and they’ve got one very sick and unhappy customer over it.

I was from out of town and found this little place. There was 6 of us total and everyone said there food was good. My plate had a tamale, taco, enchilada, beans, and rice. It was really good and very reasonably priced. Our waiter was very attractive.
