Extremely disappointing experience. We ordered the hibachi and were given a plate with almost no vegetables and an overwhelming amount of onions and mushrooms.
Other guests at our table asked for no onions and no mushrooms. Instead of handling that properly, the chef (Leo) gave all of their vegetables to those plates and piled everything they didn’t want onto ours. That is unacceptable. We should not receive an unbalanced plate because of someone else’s special requests.
This shows a lack of care and basic portion control, especially for a restaurant that charges premium prices. I do not recommend Sakura Japan and will not be coming back.

We have visited here twice in the last few months. We told our server we wanted the vegetables cooked well done. She brought us our food and vegetables were basically raw. We told her and she said she would check. She was so rude about it. So of course she never came back until she brought the check.
The second time we went the gentleman from the front took our order. Then the server who was rude bought our food to us. The worse customer service. The food was cooked perfect this time. We always sit at the tables and it seems like the food always better.

The Chef’s are awesome, great personality and technical skill. Fried Rice, hibachi steak, veggies and chicken were great! Unfortunately the salad was swimming in Ginger Dressing and it didn’t taste fresh. The Soup was good but it was diluted and seemed like salt was just added to compensate. The noodles at the end didn’t taste very good, they were like spaghetti noodles which didn’t fit the Japanese theme. The best thing by far was the fried rice! The venue was also filled with smoke, this lead to floors being sticky. One of the vents might not be working very well or the a/c is struggling. Otherwise the venue and decoration itself was very nice, and way more than I expected. The amount of options for sides is quite limited.

I was in town staying near this restaurant and wanted some Japanese hibachi style food. This place has some of the most scrumptious, absolutely delicious food that I have had from any Japanese/ hibachi grill EVER including Benihana and Tokyo! The chefs there season the food to perfection and there is no overpowering flavor or seasonings. It is all blended to make your taste buds sing. I went 2 days and both were exceptional and my husband loved it too. Both times I ordered take out so I didn’t get the full dining experience, but when I return to Richmond I will go for sure.

Ate there with a party of 10. Reservation was easy to make. Staff energy was non existent. Got apps before we got drinks. We gave food orders and the only thing he seasoned was the rice. All the protein was cooked correctly but the vegetables were still hard. He made a volcano with onions and that was all the flare we got. Nothing fun and no tossing rice in to our mouths. Also no wine by the glass, bottles only. The man never smiled. I’ll make a wiser location choice next time I choose hibachi.

We had a great corporate event here. The place is well designed in order to accommodate large or small parties. I was very surprised by how much food we got. The chefs were fun and entertaining. A wide variety of foods and sushi. Lunch specials, too.

It was just a daddy and daughter night and my little girl wanted hibachi. I kind of wanted to try someplace new so I Googled Hibachi places around me and this was one that I haven’t been to before. Not a huge place looks like they have four to five stations with two grills each. They also have a number of booths on the outside of the grills if you just want to get something without the show. We were sat right away with these three young teenagers that seem to be regulars. It seemed very clean and well-kept, our waitress was quick to take our drink order. My daughter got the Steak and chicken, I myself don’t eat hibachi so I ordered their Sushi special that came with 3 different kinds for $14.95. Our chef was very playful and kept us all engaged. Seemed to even recognize one of the teenagers and goofed with her quite a bit, making us all laugh. Everything was very tasty and my daughter says we needed to give them a 5-star! We both agreed that we definitely would come back and eat here again.

This is our “to go” spot for family birthday gatherings. It’s a great experience for adults and children. The Hibachi is amazing and never disappoints! Love the Miso Soup and Salad! Love the Shrimp, Steak & Chicken.

This was my first visit to Sakura, I had a gift certificate so my husband and I went for lunch (hibachi) Saturday. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt. We will definitely be going back!

Pretty good. The food was decently cooked even if the chef want very talkative. Not much more expensive than other similar places of this style. They are fast though. Within minutes of us ordering the chef was out to begin cooking. I felt like the food was a bit overcooked personally but my wife loved her chicken so to each their own, just be prepared for it to be a bit charred.
