If you’re in Elk City and want a dinner that feels a bit special, this is the place. Located in a former train station built in 1910, Prairiefire Grille is a local treasure. The steak tips and salmon both lived up to the strong recommendations. The macaroni and cheese side looked ordinary, but tasted great, with a distinct smoky note. Service was prompt and friendly, and the prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality. Unfortunately, we didn’t save room for the chocolate cake. We will definitely return the next time we’re in Elk City.

My Chicken Fried steak is dry. When I bite into it, it tastes like eating
Texturized chicken dust, we got a meet patty for our dog dry,
We got the heap oh onions burger the fried okra and the bun were more moist than the burger. salad was delicious i got it to go order. But the inside looked good stylish, it also looks like they’re going through some sort of renovation at the moment. November sixth twenty twenty five.

Me and my family went to celebrate my birthday this evening and was so disappointed in the food and atmosphere. If you don’t know the owner I wouldn’t bother going. Genuinely one of the worst dinner experiences I’ve ever had. We were a party of 4 and a baby and had a few couples and another big group come in behind us, sat us and everyone else right after us. Everything was a smooth start, we place our order 3 out of 4 of us order a $30+ New York strip. After waiting about an hour for our food and everyone who was sat after us already wrapping up there dinner and leaving. All three came out cooked wrong all over cooked and super charred, not in a good way. Even the chicken fried steak was over cooked and dry. Our server did her very best and we sent the one steak that was too over cooked for any of us to be ok eating. While my table finished eating and waited for the remade steak the owner sat 4 very loud and very drunk people right behind us after staff had cleared every table in eye sight we were the last table waiting for the remade steak. The owner gos over to the drunk table many times and bringing them some more alcohol to very visibly drunk people. She had to walk past us several times to get to this table as it was tucked right behind us, the remade steak then came out over cooked again and even more charred than any of thee other steaks at the table. You could tell the steak quality was not $30 worth for any of the steaks that we were served. The owner never asked how anything was at any point of the night, she didn’t come and “table touch” after a send back and us complaining about how over done all of our steaks were. For the amount of money we spent it would have been nice to at least acknowledge the mistakes made by the kitchen. It was clear that the owner only touches base if she knows you personally. Was genuinely disappointed in the lack of customer service from the owner of this restaurant and the lack of care from kitchen staff to serve food like I was served tonight.

What a gem! We thought we would be having dinner in a dive bar when we arrived a little later into Elk City. Nope! The Prairiefire Grill had excellent food, drinks, and service- all in a lovely old building space. We would love to go back if we are ever in the area again!

What the other reviews don’t highlight was how cool this place is. Sure, the food is really good (try the fried goat cheese). And the service is outstanding, with a heaping helping of small town friendliness. But the fact that it is a well maintained turn of the last century train depot doesn’t get mentioned.

This restaurant has perfected this perfect size salad. The salmon was actually perfectly cooked and I didn’t have to ask for more butter for my baked potato. The service was friendly and efficient, one of the best meals I’ve ever had

This place is crazy good! We stopped here on the way home to OKC from a meeting further west and were blown away. Their food and presentation easily rivals a lot of the ‘big’ fancy places in OKC. I had the fillet and it was perfect. Will definitely stop here again if I ever get the chance.

Very good place to eat. The food was excellent. You must try their potato nachos. Try the chocolate cake, it is massive. Can’t say enough good about the staff. Friendly, fun, and attentive. The building is sectioned off into a few separate areas so the noise level is better. They could turn the radio down or point the speakers up instead of aimed at certain tables. All in all this place is definitely a must try but their prices are high compared to other restaurants in town with equal quality.

Such a unique location in an old train station; I love when venues hold onto their history. The cheese board and drinks were delicious. I can’t say the service was a highlight for me, but it was so busy I can’t knock a star.

The salmon dinner was good. The salad was good. The salmon was tender and moist. The asparagus was grilled and tasty. The green beans were tough. The wait staff was attentive.
