The food was delicious, so flavorful and just the right amount of spice. I want to go try every dish on the menu. So stoked to have this in Redding. The family was also super sweet and you could tell how hardworking they all were! We were told they don’t even have a freezer or a microwave, everything is that fresh. We had the meat plate, doro wat and a hot Ethiopian tea. We’re recommending this place to all our friends and plan on coming back more than once!

It is a family run restaurant that serves good food with good portions. The owner who served me was polite and attentive. If I lived anywhere near this place, I’d certainly come back. And if you’re passing through as I was, it’s worth the short jaunt from I-5.
By the way, if you’re new to Ethiopian, don’t necessarily expect a fork. I don’t even know if they have any. Use the injera. You’ll clean up. And… that’s more food in the picture than you realize.

Our server was very kind, it felt like we were welcomed in as friends, they seemed genuinely happy to see us. Food is absolutely delicious, we got the beef sambussa and veggie combo platter, ingeri is amazing, good amount of sourness. Prices very reasonable for something you cannot get anywhere else in the north state, support local family business and give it a go, we will certainly be back regularly!

Before Lalibela, Redding lacked a level of warmth and culture that it so desperately needed.
Ethiopian food leaves me and my husband feeling healthy and cozy. We were treated like family and even given complimentary coffee. OH MY GOD the coffee….I was speechless. It is roasted in house and made me want to sit and sip for hours.

This place did not disappoint. The food is incredibly fresh, the flavors are truly authentic, and the service was excellent. This may honestly be the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. We ordered the vegetarian sambussa and the vegan plate, and the lentils were absolutely out of this world. Even though we don’t live in Redding, if they continue to maintain this high standard, it’s well worth the trip just to enjoy the food.
