Came here on a summer Saturday night for dinner with a party of 4, no reservations, but surprisingly had no issue of getting a table right as we came in. We had a table near the bar and the ambiance is very pretty, but can be a little dark. Noise level was perfect, could easily talk to everyone without feeling like I was hard of hearing. Service was kind and helpful, but it certainly felt slow. I would have ordered more drinks if they just had come around and checked in on us a touch more frequently! Although it did seem like they might have been down some staff that night, so I don’t fully ding them for that. The most convenient parking is the paid lot right in front, but there is some street parking further away if you’re willing to walk a little.

The real reason you’re here though is the food and drinks! Starting with cocktails, I tried their mezcal version of an espresso martini, 43 Espressions, it’s a little bolder than your typical espresso martini, but that’s what I also like about it more. Also tried the Lavender Fields, which is a delightfully fresh summer/spring cocktail that is very easily sippable. For a quick appetizer I tried the French onion soup, as classic as it ever has been. When you have found perfection, there is no need to try and reinvent it, and luckily they don’t! On to the mains. I had Dave’s Roasted Chicken. Perfectly cooked and the sides of paella rice and asparagus make an excellent pairing, serving size is the right amount to fill you up. Also tried their tagliatelle with red pepper romesco and skirt steak, which was fresh and not an overwhelming pasta portion like I’m typically used to from any Italian place.

Even in spite of the less than stellar service time, I’d love to comeback here and try out more of the menu, especially some of their steak options and get a chance to try out the dessert menu too!

We came here on a Friday night with a group of 10 ladies.

SERVICE: From the moment we arrived, our server, Hannah, was outstanding. She was friendly but not intrusive, offered recommendations without being pushy, and was extremely attentive. It’s hard to get 10 ladies to stop talking and focus on ordering but she was able to do it with humor!

FOOD: The food was very good; everyone enjoyed their meal.
Appetizers (shared): Zucchini Chips & Burrata (special)
Dinner: Scallops (special), Spinach Radiatore, Duck Cavatelli, Dave’s Roasted Chicken, burgers
Dessert (shared): Classic Ice Cream Sundae, S’mores Brownie Sundae, Cheesecake, Brule

ATMOSPHERE: We were seated in a room that accommodated our table and two smaller tables but were alone most of the night. It was easy to chat and hear each other. The room is a bit dark, so bring your reading glasses or iPhone light if you are over a certain age. 😉

The prices are a bit high. We spent about $100pp (including tip) but there were drinks included in that price.

This place is outstanding. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is just as impressive. I had the bone-in porterhouse with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach — everything was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious.
Our waiter was exceptional — attentive, professional, and on point the entire evening.
The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, and the quality never disappoints. Highly recommend.

Please save your time and money and go elsewhere. We waited nearly 50 min for appetizers and then another 25-30 min for our entrees, and let me tell you, it was atrocious. My mom ordered medium well and got medium. The steak was the worst I’ve ever had in my entire life. I probably could’ve had a better steak meal at Outback at a fraction of the price.

The French onion and clam chowder soups were also rather salty. The calamari tasted worse than what you’d get from a pizzeria joint.

Avoid this place at all costs!

[edit] They took forever to bring our food out, and then had the nerve to say, hey, we have another rsvp at 7pm a few minutes after I paid the bill…mind you, my family and I usually finish dinner meals within an hour…you wasted nearly an hour and are rushing us out? I can’t with this place. Terrible all around.

We visited Old Fields Port Jefferson for the first time last night for our wedding anniversary, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, our server Cathy made the night unforgettable. She was absolutely phenomenal… warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful.

Our table was reserved right by the cozy fireplace and, without us even asking, staff ensured we had privacy by not seating anyone directly next to us throughout our meal, and the dining room was full! It made the entire evening feel intimate and special, and we truly felt respected, cared for, and celebrated.

The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was top-tier, and the experience left such a lasting impression that we already can’t wait to return. Thank you, Cathy, and thank you Old Fields, for making our anniversary so memorable. Highly, highly recommended! ❤️

We ordered the skirt steak with the 1950’s recipe marinade and a ribeye. They were both good while not spectacular. The bill was similar to what we pay in Manhattan for amazing steakhouse dinners. Since the price was on point with some really great Manhattan steakhouses, but the taste wasn’t we offer a four star rating. Both fries and onion rings were also good but not great. The steak fries almost looked like they had a batter on them and were sort of bland. There were pecans on the caesar salad which were unexpected. We ate them separately from the salad and they were really good. The pecans and french onion soup were probably the best thing that we ate there.

The team members were all polite while the service overall was inattentive. I don’t believe they came to see if we needed anything and only stopped at our table to bring our food and check. The lady that came to bring our food came from the kitchen in an apron and was so sweet.

I only had appetizers but they were all delicious. The Mac was amazing, the calamari was also very good. Overall my waitress Hannah was very nice, always checking on us, and very personable. When I go back I would love to have her again.

We waited almost 20 minutes before anyone came over to our table. I had to get up and find a waiter. His name was Anthony and he was amazing! He immediately came over and took our drink order and got our waitress. It took quite some time for our appetizers to come out and one order was wrong. The manager came over and fixed that for us. She was very accommodating and we didn’t have to pay for the appetizers or my second drink. That was very much appreciated. My turkey burger was delicious as well as the zucchini chips. I will give it another try in the future as every place is allowed one off night.
