Tucked away in Cañon City near the Royal Gorge, 8 Mile Bar & Grill offers an inviting, casual setting with a distinctly outdoorsy charm. The space is well-suited for families and pet owners alike, featuring dog-friendly amenities such as a dedicated dog menu and water bowls, ensuring every guest, human or canine, feels welcome.
During my visit, I opted for the chicken basket while my four-legged companion enjoyed the chopped chicken bowl. The chicken strips, though straightforward in flavor, were executed with care and cooked to a precise doneness. The fries deserve special mention: uniformly cut, impeccably seasoned, and boasting a crisp exterior that suggested a thoughtful double-frying method. This detail elevated an otherwise simple dish.
The chopped chicken for my dog appeared well-seasoned and freshly prepared. Judging by my dog’s enthusiasm, it was thoroughly enjoyed, which reflects well on the kitchen’s consistency, even for its canine patrons.
Service was pleasant and accommodating. Guests are free to choose any outdoor seating, though the establishment’s counter-ordering system does raise a small logistical question for pet owners since dogs are not permitted inside. When I brought my dog in to place our order, the staff were entirely unfazed, handling it with an ease that speaks to their familiarity with such situations. A water bowl was provided immediately, and the staff’s friendly demeanor extended to all guests, both human and canine. The only minor drawback was the delay in securing a refill for my drink, given that the self-serve fountain is located indoors, but staff responded promptly once asked.
Pricing is fair and accessible, with my meal priced at $16 and the dog’s portion at a reasonable $5. Considering the setting, quality, and pet-friendly approach, 8 Mile Bar & Grill delivers solid value.
8 Mile Bar & Grill is a worthy choice for families seeking a laid-back meal and for dog owners who appreciate establishments that genuinely welcome their pets. It is a pleasant respite that breaks up the routine in the best possible way. I give 8 Mile Bar & Grill 4 out of 5 stars because while the atmosphere, food, and dog-friendly touches are all excellent, they lose a star for the logistical questions their counter-ordering system creates for dog owners and for the minor delay in getting a drink refill when seated outdoors.

The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with great mountain views from the patio and staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you’re wrapping up an outdoor adventure or just in the mood for great food, 8 Mile Grill is a spot we’ll absolutely return to.
Memphis Chicken Sandwich – This was the star of the table. Juicy grilled chicken breast smothered in tangy Memphis-style BBQ sauce and topped with crisp slaw. The smoky-sweet combo was perfect, and the grilled chicken added that healthy, satisfying bite.
Philly Cheesesteak – Loaded with tender, thin-sliced steak, grilled onions, and melty cheese, all tucked into a soft hoagie roll. Flavorful, filling, and cooked just right – an excellent take on a classic.
Cheeseburger – You can’t go wrong here. A thick, juicy patty grilled to perfection, topped with all the fixings on a toasted bun. It’s straightforward, delicious, and hits the spot.
All with sweet potato fries!
Last meal included was the pasta bake with marinara sauce! Delicious

My wife and I were not impressed. You order food at the register. They give you a glass for your beverages unless you order alcohol. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip; it was fresh out of the refrigerator, and not very good. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The meat was good, there was a little bit of coleslaw on it that was good, but the bun was very thick and very dry so I didn’t eat that part. The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were both good. We’ll choose someplace else next time.

Fantastic food, large drink selection, brews and cocktails. The atmosphere is a Colorado, outdoors-y lifestyle vibe with beautiful scenery and bracing breezes. There are firepits and covered patio tables. The staff are invariably polite and knowledgeable about menu items. The prices are so reasonable when compared to the quality 8 Mile Bar & Grill has to offer.

Fabulous!! I really like this place. It was my turn to choose the place for girls brunch in the area, so I based my choice on the reviews I found here and narrowed it down to just two options. I chose this place for the review comments. It’s kind of quirky, in a good way, in that you get a menu and then go to the counter to order and pay but then these friendly worker bees rush your order straight to your table like angels from the heavens. The food is stellar in portions, deliciousness, and presentation. I ordered tea (DD), but two in my party had adult beverages, which I only tasted. One was a pineapple concoction, and the other was of peach origins. Both were excellent. I wish I could have had one of each for my own self. Truly, everything we ordered was pleasing. This is food from the Royal Gorge Gods! If you live nearby, go here. If you’re just passing through, go here. This place deserves a serious recommendation to anyone.
Pictured is the Cherry Chicken Salad Sandwich, which made sure to execute before delivery and french fries that were tasty and crispy.
We ordered onion rings and deep-fried Wisconsin cheese curds as appetizers. Both were very tasty.
We will be back! Muhahaha!

Dog friendly, scrumptious food, beautiful setting, what more could you ask for?! The staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, sometimes before we even asked for it. Would definitely visit again.

We first ate at this restaurant because it was adjacent to Echo Canon River Expeditions. We returned a second time because it was excellent! We were told by about 3 different locals that we had to try the chicken sandwich. It was described on the menu as “locally famous.” Even with that high praise, it surpassed expectations. The food was excellent, the service (thanks Caroline M.!) friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed. The staff all seemed to abide by COVID-19 precautions. Would definitely return a 3rd time!

Madeline and Mackenzie were stellar, they kept everything going smooth. Food was totally on point too. That Mac and cheese is to die for (spend the money to add bacon and chicken). The burger looked awesome, but I was too focused on that Mac and cheese to pay it any mind. Otherwise, very friendly and attentive staff, best restaurant experience in several months!

Probably the best food I’ve had in the Springs area maybe ever. We were a party of 4, all tried different items and we were all impressed. I had the pub burger and it did not disappoint but my wife had the brisket grilled cheese and that was my personal favorite- phenomenal. Bread pudding was a bit dense for my wife’s liking and said it had great flavor but was not pudding-like. All in all though with the vibe and the view highly recommend.

8 Mile was a great place to get a really good meal and some drinks quickly. It’s order at the counter, and after ordering we received our app (cheese curds) within about 5 minutes and then our entrees shortly after. We had the chicken sandwich and the mac and cheese. Both were very good and the fries were delicious. Cheese curds were delicious as well. Very clean and new place with a really nice view.
