On 2/14/2026 we went to Yanaga’s for the omakase. It was absolutely amazing and I love the combinations of the flavors. Every dish he made was flavorful and unique. The service was excellent and I love how he accommendated some of the guest that was there with us. It was also super nice to be able to speak to Chef Yanaga and interact with him during the omakase. It made the experience so much better and we will definetly be coming back!

An absolutely outstanding omakase experience from start to finish. The quality of the fish was exceptional – each piece was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and thoughtful presented.

I especially loved the variety of dishes throughout the omakase. Standouts included the toro tartare deviled egg, the comforting miso soup, and the chawan-mushi, which was silky and perfectly balanced. Every course felt intentional and well-paced.

What really made the experience special was the intimate setting and the opportunity to interact with Chef Yanaga. Being able to ask questions and learn about the ingredients and preparation added depth to the meal and made it feel personal.

The value for the overall experience was excellent. For the quality, care, and level of craftsmanship, this omakase was definitely worth it! We can’t wait to come back and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable sushi experience.

Had an absolutely incredible omakase experience with Chef Kevin and the entire team at 637 Supper Club. The food was phenomenal from start to finish—fresh, thoughtful, beautifully executed, and truly memorable. The service was just as impressive: warm, attentive, and perfectly paced, making the whole evening feel special and effortless.

Thank you to Chef Kevin and the team for delivering such an amazing experience. I’m already looking forward to coming back and enjoying some great fish with all of you again.

I just had an exceptional meal here last night and I’m already dying for more. This marked my 3rd omakase experience and I can easily say without a doubt it was The Best. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, being there really makes it feel like you’re a part of something special and more intimate. The food was also of course, Outstanding. It feels impossible to narrow down a favorite, as every part of the menu flowed together perfectly. The standouts were definitely the otoro + caviar, the amuse bouche, and arctic char bozushi. We were also served the best dessert I’ve had to end an omakase with. The food stood out on its own but it was made even better by Chef Kevin Yanaga. His humor and love for his craft is was really sealed the deal on making this an unforgettable meal. I could not recommend this experience enough, and if it’s not in the budget, I also so highly recommend YKI itself. 637 Sushi Club gets a 1 million out of 10 from me!

Cozy and intimate space with a really cool omakase tucked behind a bookshelf. The decor and ambiance truly made it feel like being in Japan. I came here to celebrate my birthday, and both the chef and staff were incredibly warm and friendly, which made the experience even more special. The food was extremely fresh and tasted amazing—absolutely worth it for the price, service, and variety of items. This easily ranks in my top 5 omakase experiences. Reservations were pretty hard to get, so I definitely recommend booking at least a couple of weeks in advance. I would absolutely come back again to try the restaurant as well!

We had such a wonderful time at 637 Philly Sushi Club. Chef Yanaga is an absolute delight, engaging, fun, and clearly passionate about his craft. The menu was thoughtful and creative, with a sake pairing that felt both special and intentional. Service was flawless from start to finish, attentive without being intrusive.

The first bite, mochi and Brie wrapped in seaweed, was pure magic and something I’ll think about for a long time. The amuse bouche trio of shrimp, tuna, and oyster shooter was another standout moment, each executed beautifully and setting the tone for an exciting meal ahead.

While the experience was overall fantastic, a few details kept it from being a perfect five stars. The scallop in the chawanmushi was unfortunately overcooked to the point of being unrecognizable, the miso soup with tiny shrimp leaned a bit too fish forward for my taste, and the pastry to foie ratio in one bite featuring a pastry cup felt slightly off because there was too much pastry tart. The cheesecake also didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal’s high points.

Even with those small misses, the creativity, quality, and service made for an exceptional night out. We left happy, impressed, and already talking about coming back soon. 4.5 stars.

Incredibly special 8 seat omakase hidden inside Yanaga Kappo Izakaya restaurant! Chef Kevin spoiled us with incredible quality fish and seafood (plus some wagyu and foie gras mixed in). We had over 10 creative small plates and 11 pieces of beautiful crafted nigiri with some unique toppings. I felt it was an excellent value at 150 per person for the amount and quality of food you get. Sushi snobs, be aware that the fish for nigiri was sliced before we arrived. I found the fish to be excellent and not dried out but I know some would clutch their pearls at that. The menu attached doesn’t include some special extra dishes we received like a wagyu and toro sandwich. We also were given inari sushi to take home as well as cookies along with the menu.

One of the best parts was chatting with Chef Kevin who is very friendly and funny. I really appreciated how happy he seemed to be to answer any questions you might have about any dish after he presents it. We’ve had a few omakase experiences where the chef barely tells you what you’re eating and this was much more fun and interactive. The service was also excellent! The waiter taking care of us always had water glasses filled or if you ever needed another drink.

For drinks, they have a sake pairing as well as lots of options like cocktails, mocktails, cider, beer from the bar at the izakaya restaurant. We came a little early so we could grab a drink at the bar and when it was time for our reservation, the hostess grabbed us and showed us to the hidden room for 636 Philly Sushi Club.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this experience, which takes around 2.5 hrs, to anyone who loves sushi!

I had the absolute best omakase experience at 637 Philly Sushi Club, and as a complete novice to omakase, I couldn’t have felt more welcome. From the moment we sat down, Chef Yanga and our server Nick made us feel like we were settling in at a friend’s kitchen counter. They took their time explaining each course, sharing how to enjoy the meal in a traditional way, and made what could have been a stuffy or overly “ritzy” experience feel warm, inviting, and genuinely fun.

The food itself was incredible—creative, thoughtful, and prepared with real intention. Every bite felt purposeful. I’m still dreaming about the prawn course.

The space also adds so much to the experience. You literally walk through a bookshelf to enter, and once inside, the shelves behind the counter are filled with personal items from the chef’s son, gifts from past diners, and collectibles from chefs who recognize the quality of his craft. It makes the whole night feel unique, intimate, and meaningful.

For the quality of the food and the personalized experience, the price is more than fair—easily one of the most reasonable omakase options in the city.

One last recommendation: have a drink at the bar beforehand. The staff is incredibly friendly, the cocktails are creative and delicious, and it’s the perfect way to set the tone for an unforgettable night.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

A great omakase to experience. Very generous portions of high quality ingredients with thoughtful seasonings and preparations. Expect to be surprised by the small touches that complete each dish. The mackerel preparation stood out at exceptional, presenting the delicate flavors without the typical fishiness mackerel carries.

Service was great from the chef and staff, being informative and conversational. The atmosphere and secretive location of the dining area creates a relaxed environment that is leans towards casual conversations instead of the formality that often comes with fine dining.
