My brother and I went to eat lunch. 2 sandwhichs, sausage link, 2 sides each and 2 drinks. My bill was about $86.

The food was good, brisket was teneder. Sausge was kick ass! But I personally just cant justify charging this amount for bbq. I understand bbq is high but cost vs what was received was not well.

Definitely a cool place to hang out beer was pretty cheap.. surprisingly

Wife, myself and another couple stopped by Friday night around 630pm for dinner and conversation. We purchased 5 meals of 2 brisket baked potato, 2 brisket nachos and a senior brisket plate (one potato was to be brought home for family member). Price was good. I asked our server about how much a “regular nacho plate” would feed. I’m a hungry man of large size. His answer was the regular one would feed 2 people, where the larger one could feed 4. He was correct the regular fit my size just fine. The atmosphere was happy and pleasant with music from the outside area. I reviewed past comments on brisket and other things in advance so my post would be worth saying. While eating my nacho plate, I found it moist, tender and of good flavor. I did find the chips soaked up moisture from the meats and it became a little more dry, but still good. My friend finished his potato in record time. I know he enjoyed it. No talking till it was gone and then he helped his wife on her nacho plate. My wife finished her brisket plate second in the race to finish. Yes, she enjoyed it.
We will be back for more.

Great BBQ and live music! We usually get the nachos. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Gumbo is great too! We’ve never tried the burger because they’re always sold out when we get there. The sides are the best.

Finally got to stop by and try this place. Wasn’t too busy right around opening on Thursday. We tried the loaded brisket potato and pulled pork nachos, it was all so good. The flavor of the bark in the brisket was amazing, I’d like all the extra bits that fall off. Definitely will be back to try other things.

I walked in the front door to a warm welcome from the staff! They briefly explained their menu and how to order, then described their sides to me.
The sliced brisket was amazing, super tender and moist. The jalapeño cheddar sausage had a great crispy exterior and was so flavorful!
Now, as important as the meat is in BBQ, I’m a firm believer that the sides can make or break the experience. Green Chili Hominy – just get it! It’s so different and has amazing complex flavors. The greens – y’all, I could eat these everyday! They’re easily the absolute best I have ever had!
BBQ sauce – definitely different but in a great way! Again, complex flavors but without overpowering the meats!
The price – with a beer, that was a $40 plate but as you can see from the last photo, it was entirely too much food for me for one meal! So I’ll gladly enjoy a second meal out of that!
Additionally, I read many other prior reviews, this place is not overpriced, the meat is weighed properly, the staff is not rude and the bathrooms are easily located through the door to the patio!

Family & dog friendly & absolutely delicious! We stopped here after a long drive on our way through Texas. This place is a gem! Highly recommend the brisket sandwich, spicy burger, collard greens & loaded baked potato. The singer was fantastic & extremely kind (especially when our dog went up on stage!) There’s room for kids and dogs to run around. Lots of outside heaters and fireplaces. Fabulous vibe & great spot to hang!

While driving through on our way to Phoenix, AZ, we stumbled upon 589 Hickory BBQ Co., and we’re so glad we did! This place is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic Texas barbecue. We went for the BBQ meat platter, and it exceeded all expectations. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in our mouths, and the jalapeño sausage had just the right amount of kick—absolutely perfect.

But it wasn’t just the food that impressed us. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a true family-style vibe. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, taking the time to chat with us and ensure we had everything we needed. The service was top-notch, friendly, and full of Texas charm.

It’s not often you find a place where both the food and the people are equally amazing, but 589 Hickory BBQ Co. nailed it. We’ll definitely make this a regular stop on future trips—can’t wait to come back for more! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true Texas BBQ experience.

This BBQ joint is about average with most other BBQ joints in the metroplex. We live in an era where it’s hard to find bad BBQ.

Our party of four tried several different offerings:
*Sliced brisket sandwich
*589 sandwich
*Baked potato stuffed with chopped brisket
*Pinto beans
*Hatch Chili hominy
*Creamy cole slaw
*Potato salad

You have your choice of “lean” or “moist” when ordering a sliced brisket sandwich. I chose lean because I don’t like globs of fat. However, I was disappointed to see that my generous pile of LEAN brisket got dunked in what I believe was melted beef tallow. It did nothing for the flavor and made the sandwich taste really oily. The bun was covered in oil (tallow?)as well.

The 589 sandwich was a monstrosity and must be some kind of gimmicky item because it had a ridiculous amount of meat. Virtually impossible to eat as a sandwich without it simply falling apart. Using a knife and fork seems like you’re just eating a huge blob of meat. Not sure what the 589 sauce is, but my friend said it was good. I preferred their regular BBQ sauce.

Pinto beans were GREAT
Hatch chili hominy was GREAT
Creamy Cole slaw was GREAT
Potato salad was liked by no one and got thrown away. We all agreed that we preferred chunky mustard style potato salad, so that just a personal preference

The brisket has a very good black pepper bark and even the lean vas very tender…I just gotta remember to tell them not to dunk it in the beef tallow.
