Incredible casual Thai spot at affordable prices! We got the pad Thai with shrimp ($8) and the spicy basil chicken ($14) as well as the fried tofu ($6) and crispy spring rolls (5 for $6). Thai food was delicious and the servers were so welcoming and kind. They offered hot sauces, chili oils and crushed pepper to add to our dishes.

What a fantastic That place! Their food is amazing, with healthy and fresh ingredients cooked just right. It tastes great, their staff is friendly, and the prices are more than fair.
The only thing to improve would be to serve the food with reusable dishes and cutlery.
Highly recommend in any case, though!

55 THAI CURED MY SICKNESS. Best drunken noodles I’ve possibly EVER HAD. I come here at least once a week for those bad boys. And the price is so good compared to other SD Thai spots. Everything here is good and they don’t half-ass anything. No stone unturned to give you the best quality food. The Thai tea with boba is fire and there might still be some left if you go at lunchtime lol. I was sick with a NASTY cold and I got the drunken noodles and tom yum soup both medium spice (this is pretty spicy for me seeing as I’m a weenie but I did this on purpose.) I got them to go and took em home and had 2 big glasses of water on the side (needed – refer to comment about my weeniehood.) The hydration of the soup and the natural expectorant of the spiciness genuinely flushed my sickness right out (plus the love the staff puts into the food obvi.) Plus I had enough left over for an entire second FILLING meal. Out the door including tip $24. 55 Thai deserves Nobel prize for their efforts toward humanitarian causes. LONG LIVE 55 also I LOVE YOU IAN you’re a celebrity in my household. And the rest of the staff rocks too. If no one on earth is a regular at 55 then my and all my roommates are dead. Thank you I love you goodnight ❤️

This is the Thai place that actually got me into Thai coming from someone who hadn’t really enjoyed it before. It’s super quaint and beautiful with some of the nicest decoration I’ve seen in a restaurant of such quality. What I find amazing though, and has been a seller for me time and time again, is how cheap the food is and how amazing it tastes. The spring rolls cost 1$ and they’re actually huge and delicious. I’ve had cheap spring rolls that taste alright and soggy, but they’re always crunchy and the sauce that accompanies it is always buss. The Pad Thai is good. I don’t think i’m fit to be the ultimate judge on authenticity or taste because of my lacking experience with Thai Food, but it’s really good and it’s what made me try the cuisine again. I really enjoyed the dish though, and I recommend first time triers to get the Kids Pad Thai because it’s literally 7.50 USD, in this economy . The portion is also really big relative to how much I’m paying. I think next time I’ll go for the full size just because of how much I liked it, but I’m really happy they have these more “trial sized” Thai classics so people who don’t know the cuisine aa well can get a proper introduction. But aside from the food, I also love that they have an amazing beverage variety. They have all kinds of soda cans, but it seems like they specialize in the drinks they make there. I’ve had to limeade and it’s really yummy, although I loved the Mango Black Tea I had on this time the most. It was refreshing, and not overly sweet which I love whenever I’m drinking Iced Tea. Try this place out frr, and see if y’all vibe with it, but overallll DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED✅✅

I ordered the Pad See Ew Through their website. I’ve had this dish many times with them. I get it for the noodles and the Chinese broccoli they use. When I picked up my order, no one said anything. When I got home to eat it, it had pad Thai noodles, and regular broccoli. Plus the flavor was different.
When I called to notify them, the person that handed me my order Said, “ Yeah, we ran out of the noodles and the Chinese broccoli” Like I was supposed to know.
This was such an unfortunate experience because I’ve always enjoyed this place in the past.
If these limitation would have been spelled out in the website before ordering I would have understood, but making me pay for a mystery dish is just unacceptable.

Very disappointed with the service. Do you expect to dine in with paper plates and plastic disposable spoons ? Yes, they served us like that. Also, they gave us water in plastic cups and never bothered to add more. Taste was just ok, nothing exceptional. Stir fry was so dry and tasteless that we could not eat it with the rice. And above all, the benches were sticky! Yes, they were sticky as if they were not cleaned properly or someone has poured honey all over it. Tissue papers got stuck to it and out forearms were sticking as we leaned on them while eating.
Totally disappointed .

My wife and I were visiting SD and looking for a walkable place to get some thai food. Didn’t want to get any closer to the beach, so we landed on 55 Thai Kitchen. Looking at the photos ahead of time, I saw a picture of the pad thai, and you just have that feeling you know it’s going to be good based on how it looks. It did not disappoint. The portions were very appropriate for the price. Atmosphere was great. Wish this place was down the street from my actual house. Will definitely consider returning again next time we visit.
PS: Here’s another pad thai photo.

Great food. Mild can be spicy (according to my friend) if you’re not used to it. I had the level right above mild and that was the right level for my preference! Fried egg was an additional amount.
When in doubt ask for clarification. If mild to you is ketchup, let the chefs know haha.
